Duncan
San Antonio Spurs: With all the offseason moves that have happened making the Western Conference even better than it was before, Tim Duncan just wants everyone to remember who are the defending NBA champs. "We added good pieces." the MVP said to the San Antonio Express News. "We're just adding pieces around what we already have. We just won a championship. We don't want to change too much of it. . . . I like what we did a lot. We got deeper and we have the opportunity to be a better team than we were last year. We added some pieces basically for nothing, some very good pieces. You have to give it up to (coach Gregg Popovich and general manager R.C. Buford). Those guys did a great job of adding something for nothing." But what about the Lakers and Kings and Timberwolves? "Luckily enough, it's not always about what's on paper," Duncan said. "It's about chemistry and who believes in what they're doing."
Philadelphia 76ers: Allen Iverson and former Sixers coach Larry Brown met up for the first time since Brown left Philadelphia to coach the Pistons as Team USA prepared for the upcoming Olympic Qualifying tournament in Puerto Rico. "People keep thinking there was going to be some big thing between coach and me," Iverson said in the Philadelphia Daily News. "I'm happy for him. He was with me for 6 years and he helped me learn so much about basketball and life." And Brown had only one question for his former pupil. "The first thing I said when I saw him was, 'Let me see your arms,' " Brown said. "[Iverson] said, 'Coach, I'm not going to get any bigger but I'm stronger.' I told him to take his shirt off."
