Chriss seems to be watching how Jackson streaks to the basket and he is trying the same.

McDonough thinks the Suns being playoff competitive next season is realistic.

He talks about adding a couple of players in the draft and completing the roster with veterans.

McDonough also wants a head coach that is experienced although not necessarily as a head coach.

He viewed candidates in being different buckets of experience. McDonough would like to look at a couple of candidates with head coach experience.

He was speaking with the Suns game announcers.

Another interesting thing was that when talking about the young core, he talked about Booker, Jackson, and Warren. No mentions of anyone else.

Wasn't it Gambo who said that Chriss would be moved this summer? Wouldn't surprise me if he is. I think he's probably the most valuable player we have to trade that isn't untouchable like Booker and Jackson. Since he's turned it on the last month or so he should have positive value in the offseason.

If it happens, this would mean the Suns would likely need a center, power forward and a point guard. I do not have confidence Bender can be the starting PF or center going into next season as it stands now.

I like Bender's effort but he needs to add more muscle and weight.

I did read the Suns might trade Chriss or Bender depending upon who had the most value. Believe I read this from Scott Bordow so maybe he is a second source.

This doesn't make sense unless the Suns will use one of the players to move up in the draft or a trade chip. Otherwise why trade the most valuable player especially when the Suns need a power forward?

One more tidbit. McDonough said in the game interview he was was impressed by the number of quality big men in this draft.

Perhaps a hint the Suns will use one of their picks to draft one.

I'm fine with trading either Chriss or Bender. I think they're planning on adding a veteran PF through a trade or FA. We'll address Center and PG in the draft and whichever one is left can be the backup. If we got Ayton, we'd have him and Chandler at Center, Bender or Chriss to play backup PF and then we'd need to a PG somewhere but we do have control of Ulis, Shaq, and Payton. We do have Knight under contract also. So really adding a veteran could be our one big need which we should be able to pull off.

I'm not opposed to the Suns drafting Doncic with their first pick but the idea of drafting a top big man is quite a lure.

Besides, perhaps McDonough was saying the Suns could find one with one of their other picks.

I wouldn't mind Doncic. Let Booker bring it up and Doncic set your table in the half court.

Doncic, Booker, Jackson, Warren, DeAndre Jordan/ Drumond???

Just run uptempo pace all day

Doncic and Booker will carry the load. I think Jackson will be your slasher and you can pick and pop with Booker, Doncic and Warren all day

You can't have only 2 three point shooters on the court... especially when one of them (Doncic) is only shooting 31% from distance.

and warren can't shoot the three. That lineup is going small without spacing, which completely defeats the point of going small... and it will leaky like a sieve defensively with Doncic/Warren/Booker as average at best defenders... and that's being generous.

Yeah, if Bender actually panned out as a legit stretch 4 and you swapped him for Warren, that lineup would be amazing, otherwise, spacing would be a real problem.

Are you writing Chriss off a stretch four? I know he’s been a collasal disappointment this year, but a light seems to have turned on the past month. If (and it’s a BIG IF), he could man that spot, I’d be pretty interested in a possible Doncic/Booker/Jackson/Chriss/DeAndre starting five.

It would certainly have great size, a ton of athletes with a defensive anchor we’ve never seen. But Jackson and Chriss would have to get to at least mediocre shooting from 3.

Take all performances from last month of the season with a grain of salt. Most teams are tanking, and the elite teams are resting and lot of teams don’t even give a crap. Then there’s few teams who are actually vying for playoff spot/positioning.

It was this time last year that Alan Williams looked the next coming and Tyler Ulis looked like a top 10 pg.

Hell, Marshon Brooks from China has come and dropped 25+ in four straight games these past few weeks.

There are many other examples as well.

I’m glad Chriss is playing well but only because I’m hoping it increases his trade value in the summer not because I think he’s turned a corner.

Maybe... the same light appeared to have turned on for Chriss at the end of last year, then it flipped to being darker than a black steer tookus on a moonless prairie night. In terms of being a pure stretch 4 and a compliment to a purely hypothetical lineup featuring a center like Drummond or Jordan, I think Bender is more likely to fill that role than Chriss. Mind you... I'm not saying that, in and of itself, is likely, just that Bender has significantly better odds of filling the "point-forward stretch 4" role than Chriss. He has all the talent to do it now... he just needs to grow a pair, but, sadly, a talented, yet passive, player "growing a pair" has been an oddity. He's young... so I will continue to hold out hope.

Year two for both Bender and Chriss and they look like year one. But they tantalize us just enough to think maybe possibly they can turn into Bball players someday...

....maybe.
