I feel like it's a safe bet Cp3 is going to destroy Alvarado when they match up tonight. I think it's because he admires him but Alvarado has been quite outspoken since game 4 about causing an 8 second call on CP3 and getting a steal against him. He said "I got him. That's one thing I wanted to do actually. I got him on my list so I'm good." I think he means it because he respects CP3 so much

But I also think CP3 is going to come out with a vengeance and go after Alvarado. I think it will be more like the earlier game where he was yelling at the Pels bench to put a bigger guy on him because this guy can't guard me.
I hope yer right. We need a dominant performance tonight.

Just not sure how much gas in left in CP3's tank...I would LOVE it if he schools mighty mouse tonight, but I'm skeptical...

I wish I could buy the games on Bally or TNT, but nobody said they're pay-per-view. The fact is that you can almost never observe the NBA on TV if you don't have cable.

I hear a good lot of people (not necessarily on this forum) remarking on the Suns' "depth." I wish they'd stop. These games are strongly indicating that the Suns' depth is overstated.

I know you won’t accept it… but, Ayton’s rebounding numbers are hurt by him being tasked to guard away from the rim.
IMHO, he’s been very good defensively. Not great, but better than good. And he’s been extremely good offensively.
It just doesn’t happen as much as some of you guys make it out to be. He spends the overwhelming amount of time in the paint getting out worked on the boards by valencunius.

And if you want to excuse his 8.7 rebounds/game outside of his lone explosion game on guarding outside, why did he average more than that every season if his career? Uh huh, that’s what I thought. This is classic Ayton. He’s almost always has spurts where he’s subpar on the glass.

I don’t think it’s overstated, it’s just all playing poorly at the same time. Missed open shots aren’t the result of anything other than our own failures. Everyone is shooting well below their norms (other than Ayton and mcgee).

Ayton in this series has the big goal of preventing JV from getting 20 rebounds. That means boxing him out to allow his teammates to corral the boards. This is how he has been played his entire career so far.

We can complain about 8.7 all day, but Ayton is by far one of the bright spots of this playoffs.

Instead let’s look at Jae Crowder and Cam Johnson—they need to take advantage of DA boxing out his man.

Of course not. Have you seen him in a game in the first place in these playoffs, unless it was for thirty seconds or so?

Against the Clippers Ish had a 20 point, 8 rebound, 4 assist game.

I think it happens more than you are willing to admit... But that aside, I am not making any excuses for Ayton as I tend to be as hard on him as I am on any other player. With respect to Valenciunus, I can't say I'm all that surprised that a 7 foot, 2 inch and 300 pound athletic mammoth is able to out-duel Ayton, who's giving up 3 inches and 50 pounds.

Again.

Several posters here have pointed out every game so far. DA can’t be in two places at once. You can’t play a switching defense(the defense we play) having Ayton on the perimeter and them complain he’s not banging down low

It’s the fact that nobody on this team outside of Ayton is even an average rebounder. We don’t gang rebound they stand and watch

JV is averaging 2 more rebounds per game than his season average. How is Ayton effectively boxing out his man?

That doesn’t relieve the responsibility of anyone else, but the WHOLE team is failing at rebounding.

Valencunius is listed at 6’11 and 265. He’s clearly more than 265, but he’s the same height as aytin and considerably less athletic.

And you’re not addressing the elephant in the room . . . Ayton is not coming out on defense any more than the regular season yet his rebounding in 3 games is way down from his average and valencunius is way up from his average. But for some reason you, and some others, think it’s not a problem. As we get slaughtered on second chances. Okay.

100% on the ball watching.

Now why, if we’re playing the same defense as regular season, does aytin have three games where his rebounding in under his seasons average and valencunius’ rebounding is above his season average?

As tedious as it’s going to be I may just document how many times Ayton is on the outside defending verses inside on every shot. Doesn’t matter if he’s outside defending at some point in the possession if he’s back guarding under the basket by the time a shot goes up. I’ll let everyone know what I come up with.

Ayton is averaging 10.7 rebounds in this series

Ayton averaged 10.2 in the regular season

As much as you would like make it this guy does this and this guy does that and 1 for 1 thing. I would be curious to see how everyone else’s rebounding numbers stack up to the regular season

Ayton is playing like Ayton but everybody just seems to have disappeared
