Wow!!! We had to fight through nightmare recollections of 'MORON-elli' for a while, and had to fall back on an incredibly dominating defense (which will carry us far), but we finally put up the big lead, finally ground out the running yardage, and avoided the trap game.

I'll tell you what, though...if this game was at the end of the season and everything else was different, the outcome could very well have been different. That Claussen kid is going to be dynamite. He made some errors, held on to the ball too long, but boy did he look good anyway. He was determined not to lose the game, and to try and get them back in the game. He did very well overall. Charlie Weiss coached really well too. He knew not to overextend Claussen too much, and gameplanned very well; they were simply outmanned on offense.

Notre Dame comes out of this game happy with their defensive improvements, with the play of their young QB, and they should be pleased with Weiss' performance as a coach. They simply went up against a better team, and hung with them for a long time. Kudos to the Golden Domers...but I'm glad we beat them by 21 ;)

Thanks, Stout. Paterno is amazing. With Michigan and Ohio St struggling, Joe Pa has a real shot at a big 10 title.

Watch out for Purdue. Nobody is paying attention to them and they sacrificed last year to playing their sophomores and freshmen. Now they have matured.

Thankfully we get Purdue, Ohio State, and Wisconsin, the only three teams left that scare me, all at home. We have to go to the Big House, but with our defesne, we'll give them even more reason to hate Lloyd Carr.

If Morelli can simply keep away from turnovers and chuck one deep every once in a while, focusing mainly on moving the chains, we should make a run at an undefeated season. Why not?
