No, equating Bradford to Warner, or anywhere close, is absurd.
Warner couldn't even hold a football for 3 years without fumbling it. He was also benched for Matty. We took a chance when we signed him cause no one wanted him. Warner can read a defense and Bradford can read a defense. Its the most important quality a QB can have.

I'm thinking if the Cardinals stay put at #15, they will use another pick (perhaps a third round pick) to move up early in the second round to draft a QB.

The Cardinals could do something similar by trading down from #15.

Now you're just trying to fill a narrative. Warner won a Super Bowl, Bradford has never been to a playoff game. Has Bradford ever even had a winning record?

Not comparing that. Of course Warner accomplished more before 2005 than most QBs could ever dream of. I am comparing IQ and ability. That's your narritive

Sad, but true. Of the 3, Bradford at the particular point in their careers when the Cardinals signed them, is the best of the 3.

Warner was damaged goods and far from his MVP form. He just could not hang onto the football and it was to the point that it was affecting the rest of his game. Palmer was coming off a couple of respectable years considering how bad those Raiders teams were but he wasn't the pre-injury, pro-bowl Palmer.

Bradford is playing the best football of his career when he's not injured and looks to be worthy, skill-wise, of the first overall pick where he was drafted now that he isn't playing for those lowly Rams teams.

Bradford isn't a case of hoping he regains his old form because he's still in top form. One just has to hope he stays healthy.

I want his defense elite so I hope we take a player according to that in the 1st round.

Does anyone know what time the draft starts tonight, meaning what time the first pick will actually be announced?

I would really like to see us pick Vander Esch... but 15 is too high.... hoping we can trade up in the second and get him like we did with Baker because he wont be there at 47...

wont make me mad if we pick him at 15, but it really is too high...around 35 or so would be a good spot for him......dude could be our Keuchly/Lewis guy and run our defense for years

I've been on the Rudoph train, not be cause I think he's the best, but because he would be there for the Cards at #15 - they wouldn't have to do any moving. He seems to have fallen and may not have ever really been on their radar. If Rosen fell to them or they moved up to say #8 or 9 to get him, I'd be thrilled. But that's just not the Cardinal way.

There are 6-7 solid QBs in this draft and I still think if the Cards pass on all of them, it'll be a colossal mistake. Just my .02.

several teams have taken him off their boards completely because he had a neck issue... his camp says it was just a stinger

I am willing to risk that.

I just dont want to see us draft another minibacker

Admittedly it’s a big risk that Bradford stays healthy. If he does people are underrating him. He was drafted by a team that went 1-15 the year before he arrived. He played hurt in several games but still was decent. He went to Philly and walked into the Chip Kelly mess. He finally got a decent place to play in Minn. and did well. He needs the Cards to get him some help, but he will not be the biggest problem next year.

No problem with this, means they actually put value on the QB they want and where. If we just take any QB high, then we become the Titans, Bucs or Dolphins - I am fine with using vet QBs 'forever' as long as we can win.

that plan has worked a whopping 4 times out of the last 30 YEARS.

IF you can keep Slinging Sammy Bradford healthy for the next couple of years, then I'm okay with passing on a QB today.

The success we've had with Warner and then Palmer supports the strategy of bringing in high-quality, "older" veteran QBs. It's worked, really, really well, twice. A ring was in sight both times.

Take the picks and build the defense, because that's what's going to put hardware in the trophy case anyway.

Before you rip me though, let me say that I'm really skeptical about Bradford staying healthy, really skeptical about Keim using our 1st round pick well, and I would do what it takes to move up to get Mayfield.

Slinging?

No, it's not. The way he played in 2016 was as good or better than Warner ever played with the cards.

20 TDs/5 INT, over the 15 games, leading the team to the 23rd worst ppg and a 7-8 record is NOT CLOSE to any of Kurt's good seasons for us.

It was a barely Matt Cassel-esque season that had ZERO impact on their offense, while playing with a 6th ranked D.

Sure, he made very few mistakes, but he led the team to very few points also because he's captain checkdown and risk averse to the highest degree as a QB.

Saying he was as good as either of Warner's playoff teams is just ridiculous.

top form is 20 TDs/5 INT, below 4000 yards passing in a massive passing league and leading his team to the 23rd worst ranking in points?

That's Matt Cassel-worthy... not 1st pick worthy.

We need to protect our qb and open holes for DJ. We need to beat the teams in our division. Suh and Donald are going to wreak havoc in our backfield. The most sensible pick is the biggest and baddest-lineman with the first pick.

I have been hyping Frank Ragnow for months...was hoping to get him in the third round...
he has climbed boards, and Mayock had him going in the first round in his mock, lol

that always happens to the sleepers I pick out early...

Price, Daniels, and Ragnow should all three be pro bowl type centers in a few years....and can probably start right away... I would really like to see us get one of them

Hernandez or Wynn at guard would be solid picks too... Hernandez is massive...amazing athleticism for a 340 lb dude

Except vet QB's forever rarely bring championships. Looking at the last 30 Super Bowl winners, the only teams with a veteran QB they got from another team were the 2000 Ravens, 2003 Bucs, and 2015 Broncos. That's not a great % of vet QB's forever. We need to groom a QBOTF.
