Per the Boston Herald and Rotoworld.com, The Diamondbacks and Oakland A's are progressing in talks that would bring Haren to the Diamondbacks and a package of Connor Jackson, Carlos Gonzalez plus two other players to the A's.

Here's the links:

It was also reported that the Yankees have moved off of Santana and have Haren in their sights...

Please make it happen. I'd even consider giving up Drew.

Webb, Haren, Davis, Johnson, Owings.

Looks very solid to me if Johnson can stay healthy. (Big if.)

no way should drew be involved in anything. Emelio Bonafacio, Quentin Gonzalez, Conor Jackson, Chad Tracy, Jose Valverde, Tony Pena, and Alberto Callaspo...

By the way, the Dbacks sold too low for Carlos Quentin and Scott Hairston.

This is what I see happening... Boston gets Santana... with that option out of the picture, the Yankees will offer Hughes, Cabrera, etc for Dan Haren. Oakland makes this deal over ours because the Yankees can offer what we cannot... a front-line pitching prospect. After we hear this news, we trade CGon, and some middle-to-high level prospects.

According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Diamondbacks failed to respond to Oakland's demands for Dan Haren after receiving a list of players from the team.
There have been a lot of mixed messages on this one already. We've heard the sides have had serious negotiations, but Rosenthal seems to think they didn't. We've heard Conor Jackson was involved along with Carlos Gonzalez and two other players, and we've heard that Jackson's name was never brought up. According to the New York Post, Jackson was in it and the A's would have sent Dan Johnson to Arizona in what could have been a six player deal. FWIW, rumors also say the Diamondbacks have no interest in Haren's teammate, Joe Blanton.

Not such good news... :(

The Diamondbacks will continue to discuss Dan Haren with the A's, but the A's would prefer to wait until after the Johan Santana matter is settled, according to the East Valley Tribune.
They want to know exactly what the market will be for Haren's services. According to the Tribune, the Diamondbacks are willing to give up Carlos Gonzalez, second baseman Emilio Bonifacio and lefty Brett Anderson in a Haren deal. The paper believes the A's could ask for up to six players and may seek Jose Valverde, Conor Jackson and Dustin Nippert.

Interesting that the article notes Anderson... I would think that the A's would want a pitcher closer to starting right now. Nippert sounds about right. A starter to possibly take Haren's place.

Yankees VP Hank Steinbrenner said he wouldn't pay the same kind of price for Dan Haren he would have for Johan Santana.
Steinbrenner called that price for Haren "ridiculous" and vowed: "It won't happen, not with us." The A's aren't believed to have a lot of interest in Melky Cabrera, so they'd probably ask for at least Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy and Austin Jackson.

That makes the situation a little more interesting.
