The Orioles and Diamondbacks reportedly have made offers to Florida for arbitration-eligible first baseman Derrek Lee.
The Diamondbacks are believed to be offering Junior Spivey, John Patterson, Andrew Good and Chris Capuano.

If Joe made that trade, then every season ticket holder should dump their tickets. Three of our top pitching prospects for Lee? Not a chance.

Can't believe they would offer all four of those players for just Lee ... That's just not reasonable. It's possible that those players are being discussed, but not as a package deal.

NOT CAPUANO!! NO NO NO NO NO!!!! (stamping my feet angrily) Does Joe G Jr really have no frigging clue how to set appropriate value in today's market? He asks way too much for Schilling even for the Yanks to swallow - because he is so used to getting screwed by other GMs that he assumes everyone does??! This is insane!! Just insane!!! AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!

I say we trade Gonzo... keep Schilling and pick up a cheap bat ala Reggie Sandards.

Derrek Lee wouldn't be a bad consolation prize but, I think Sexson is the prototypical clean up hitter that the Dbacks covet. Of course Lee just won a gold glove and swiped 21 bases last year. Sexson is good defensively also but doesn't have Lee's speed. Either one is a huge upgrade over Lyle Overbay. If we have to trade Curt to afford either one than the price is to high IMO.

I still think that Shea Hillenbrand could make a real contribution batting 3rd, ahead of Gonzo and Sexson (righty/lefty/righty).

FINLEY (L)
CINTRON (S)
HILLENBRAND (R)
GONZALEZ (L)
SEXSON (R)
right fielder
second baseman
HAMMOCK

is a competitive lineup.
