I agree. I don't like a coach/GM combo. There should be check and balances and coaches should concentrate on coaching. Last time that happenned for us, it was a complete mess (hint: a fat guy riding a horse, winner in town... wink, wink).

When did Rosie O'Donnell coach the Cardinals??

I would rather keep Denny then bring Carroll to desert.

We might as well have McGinnis come back and coach for us.

Now I am not for or against Carrol at this point in time but...

I have seen Mac and Carrol being put in the saem sentance a few times now. My question is how exactly are they the same coach besides being rah rah types?

Are they the same in these catagories as well - Motivation, X's & O's, surround themselves with good assistant coachings, scouting ability, talent evaluation, teaching, in game decision making, in game adjustments, and so on.

Again other then the whole Rah-Rah thing how exactly are the 2 similar or why are they being mentioned as the same coach or put into the same sentance as if their abilities are exactly the same. Besides the Rah Rah thing, I think they are very different coaches.

Regarding the slightly over .500 record of Pete Carroll, I'd like to submit the resume of Bill Belichick as a head coach before he landed in Boston. According to Wikipedia:

"From 1991 until 1995, Belichick was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. During his tenure in Cleveland, he compiled a 36-44 record, leading the team to a playoff win in 1994. Many fans in Cleveland, however, remember him as the man who benched and then cut much-beloved quarterback Bernie Kosar in 1993, a move that sparked great controversy. In Belichick's last season in Cleveland, the Browns would finish 5-11. In November of that year, Browns owner Art Modell announced he would move the team to Baltimore after the season."

I'd love to see Pete Carroll come in.

I pointed that out before. I'm not a Carroll for the cards guy but Belichick got 5 years in Cleveland and 4 of them were losing years. He got fired. When he got hired in NE, he replaced Caroll who had 10, 9 and 8 wins his 3 years, BB promptly won 5 games the first year there.

Obviously Bill figured it out, but his first 6 years as a coach his record was worse than Carroll's.

The main thing people forget about Carroll's time in NE is that it wasn't his idea to trade Curtis Martin to the Jets, and then the next year they draft Robert Edwards, he has an outstanding rookie year, and then tears up his knee and ruins his career. Those 2 things had a lot to do with Carroll failing in NE, his defenses were good, just his offenses were getting worse each year.

Belichick was also the beneficiary of having a great GM in Scott Pioli, as well as a smart and business-savvy owner in Kraft. These three working in concert is what has created a successful atmosphere.

Success in the NFL is like a stool, with three legs being more stable than one or two.

Of course, you could try the Cardinal approach, where the stool is the stool as in, "stool sample".

If you look at Mac's last roster -- he probably should have won coach of the year for winning ANY games with that crew -

and he could very well win more games that Denny with this roster

QB could see Carroll in NFL

QB could see Carroll in NFL

Quarterback Matt Leinart talks to his college coach, Southern California's Pete Carroll, often, and it wouldn't surprise Leinart if Carroll made the jump to the NFL.

"I would never rule out that possibility in the future," Leinart said. "I'm not one to say next year or the year after or whatever, but he's a competitive guy and he wants to win.

"What he has at SC is something special, though. He could go down as one of the greatest college coaches ever. I think he already is. We'll see what happens."

The Cardinals reportedly are interested in hiring Carroll should Dennis Green be fired at the end of the season. Carroll, according to sources, is intrigued with the Cardinals job.

Leinart said he would love to play for Carroll again.

"He's seen me grow into the person I am today and the player I am today," he said. "If that day were ever to come, whether it's 10 years from now or whatever, it would be pretty fun," Leinart said.

Bring Carroll on. I don't forsee the Cards getting rid of Graves and I think that twosome might work well together. Graves could handle the player negotations and Carroll, the drafting of players and running the team.

Pete Carrol was not a bad NFL coach he is an awful NFL coach. How could anyone be excited about this?

Until the past couple of years I never thought a coach could make " a lot" of difference without the players. I am back tracking on that after watching what the Arkansas Razorbacks did after hiring a high school coach to be the Offensive Coordinator. Prior to this the Coach (Houston Nutt) insisted on calling all plays. Frank Broyles and fan pressure forced Nutt to hire this high school coach. I have seen more original offensive plays than I have ever seen in college or the pros from this guy. We are 10-2 and already other SEC teams are looking at this guy as their next potential HC or OC. For the past 4-5 weeks he has been lining up the tail back to take a direct snap about 5 yards back. He then will hand off to the second tail back, keep the ball and run, and possible pass the ball as he throws rockets and is accurate (4 for 4) including a TD. They call it the Wildcat formation. Of course it does not hurt to have 2 possible All Americans at tailback at the same time, both of them sophomores. The OC also came up with a play hiding a very small 165 lb running back behind the lineman. He was down so low no one noticed him. He got a quick handoff and went around end with no one to defend him for 40-50 yards. Every week he seems to come up with plays I have never even imagined. This guy is an original thinker and has made all the difference to this team. His name is Gus Malzon and someday you will hear about him. Out of that formation the two tail backs gained 185 yds and 135 yds last week against the top defensive team in the nation who had not given up 100 yds running to any team (LSU). I do not think I have seen anything original from the Cards since the best Coach we ever had (Don Coryell) was fired and went to San Diego to become one of the great offensive coaches of all time. I think our coaching staff has performed on the "Dumb" level to say the best. What part DG plays in this I have no clue but the sooner he and the rest of the coaches are gone the better.
