This guy has been the Saints OC under Payton for 10 years. His offense has been number one in yardage 6 times and has never been less than 6th in offense. Yes he has had Drew Brees as his QB but there have been many coaches that has had great qb's that hasn't come near the success this guy has enjoyed. Obviously Payton likes him.
Please find something wrong with this guy because I can't. A whole lot of experience and success. He also took over the play calling when Payton had his leg broken on the sideline.

Not sure he wants to be a head coach but we are absolutely out of our minds if we don't ask for permission to speak to him.

I think the concern is, it is Payton’s offense, he has a HOF QB running it and how much impact does he have on the play calling...the interview will tell the team whether those concerns are valid or not.

I think he is a good candidate though.

That's great but if the guy doesn't really want to be a HC can't force him. He's been around a long time and seems happy with where he is at

He would be the type of experienced offensive minded coach that I would be interested in. Team him up with Todd Bowles and we would have a good coaching staff at the top where it matters most.

Well, the Asst Head Coach in charge of Tight Ends, may have been paying attention in meeting after meeting.

It is odd that Carmichael on paper should be a "no-brainer" at least as a candidate, yet two other members of the Saints staff have been associated with multiple interviews (Campbell and Allen) and he hasn't gotten a sniff...

I really think BA was an outlier and a majority of the assistants who have the potential for an HC position are groomed and identified early. I wonder what the deal is with him?

Maybe he is the Harold Goodwin of the Saints?

No sign of McVay on this list from 2017

I’ve wanted Carmichael for the Chargers for years. He’s the best available candidate by far imo.
