Stop pulling the hyperbole game with Kenyan & don't hijack the thread.
I'm not hijacking the thread - I'll drop the discussion about him for the most part, but you're dismissing a guy's good games when the talent he played against in his role was much stronger than another guy you and others seem to support.

Your hyperbole about Peterson has been just as bad as mine about Drake for months.

He only had two good games though. That’s the thing. With one whose best WR isn’t top 15(Seattle).

I mean Good God there’s people on here that still think Peterson is a top 5 CB, lmao.

He's competent and he fits what they want from the position. It's more than what we had. We'll continue to address it, imo.
Yep, I'm fine with him in his current state on the roster, and hopefully we'll build on it over the next three days. I'll avoid continuing that discussion any more, hopefully.

I dunno. It was imperfect, but the final 5 or so games of the season felt strong to me. I'm not going to argue whether he's top five or not, but putting Okudah out there as our default #1 CB seems like a poor idea.

I'll take a top #15 CB at #1, and Okudah battling it out for the other outside position, with the understanding Okudah should take over one of the other spots. We're assuming Byron Murphy is playing Nickel, right?

I’d trade him to the Lions for the 3rd overall pick if Okudah was there, in a heartbeat

He is, without a doubt. There is no better cover corner in the nfl the past decade, Peterson was named to the all decade team. travels with other no1 WR which pretty much no other WR does. Hes still the best and had more than 2 good games this year.

Re-sign or franchise. This is not complicated.
Well he should be signed to an extension by now (before the draft) if it was going to happen. What makes you think he'll want to play if he's franchised? We've seen a pretty up and down (mostly) Peterson for a couple years already.
He might be looking to a reunion with Arians.
Time will tell.

By that same logic, we should trade drake too. He has stated he wants to be a lifer for the cards. I want him to be. The cardinals at the beginning of thier window. No reason to trade the top cb in the nfl in his prime. Same reason we arent shopping Chandler jones and larry.

i mean, let’s be fair, and drop Peterson to the 6th best CB in the league

Hump, who is younger but also lacks durability, and who plays a similarly important position (LT to CB1), is getting 15aav and 29 mil guaranteed. And he’s maybeeeee the 15th best LT in the league.

peterson is easily worth 4/60/30 extension right now

Peterson still has game and shutdown corners are a prized commodity. We're keeping him.
They guys likely to get traded are Reddick and or Kirk, not because of lack of talent but more lack of fit. (Kirk only if we take a first round receiver)

Except he’s not shutdown anymore.

Why is that continuing to fly over peoples’ heads?

I don't even care that his play is declining...which it is. He is still a top 5 CB in the league for the next couple of years, and if he would be open to it he could be an all-pro FS for 5 more years easy ala Charles Woodson.

I would like to resign him, as long as he is not going to resign and then ask for a trade in 18 months...but I guess thats out of our control.

Where I would definitely trade him is if he has told the FO flat out..."Im not signing an extension, I'm going to test FA". If that is the case, and there are not negotiations that will happen for an extension, I am trading him in the next 3 days. We might still be able to land a valuable pick, and we would know exactly who it will get us. Waiting and trading him at the deadline gets us a future pick that could be anywhere/anyone.

Those saying...Just franchise him...you are kidding yourselves. This is a guy that has already asked to get out of town twice, and would make himself a very vocal distraction. I fully believe he would rather sit out a year if we "insult" him with a tag than play for the "snakes in the grass" under the franchise tag. How many times can a guy tell you wants out and you say no and refuse to let him leave?

I truly think we could get a late 1st for him from a team like Minny, KC, New Orleans, etc....a team that is all in right now.

Does it make us better next year, no it doesn't. Does it make us better for 4 years after that... IMO it does.

and then everyone call point and laugh at Keim for trading him for a 3rd, and he can be the new BoB

And you think it would do more for Keim's reputation to take a hard line stance and say "You will play out this year, then we will franchise you and you will play that out too....or you can just sit out and we will see who can out-stubborn each other".

It's so petty and stupid. How many times can a guy ask/tell you he wants off the team before you let him leave? What have the Redskins gained by playing hardball with Trent Williams? What did the Steelers gain by letting Bell sit? Or the Chargers with Gordon?

There are two potential CB1's in this draft, and way more than 2 teams that need a CB. We would get more than a 3rd. Hell, we got a 2nd for Josh Rosen!

Because you're using a ridiculously small sample size.

Get back to us at the end of the upcoming season and maybe we'll all agree with you.
Ah, so the only 3 out of 10 good games wasn’t enough, he just needs to play like he’s washed for the whole 16 to convince you.

Got it.

I understand peoples frustration that he asked out, but in fairness, out team was a "blank"show under wilkes. Wilkes took a shut down CB asked him to play zone. We converted to a 4-3 the same year and didnt have the front 7 to do it. You want your dogs to hunt. its like asking Jones to Not rush the passer and just contain the running backs. Peterson has also said he wants to retire a cardinal. I also believe, that he and many other vets, get to the point where they dont want to be on a rebuilding team. We wiffed with Wikles and Rosen.

I think the whole team know we have a QB, we can score points, we just added Hopkins and filled the other glaring holes we had on D with veterans. You dont trade arguably your best defense player when you are at the beginning of your superbowl window with Murray on his rookie deal. It makes zero sense. If you trade peterson, you may as well trade Chandler Jones and Fitz as well.
