Peyton Manning has been throwing at Duke University since Tuesday.

Some "brief amateur footage" of the sessions — where Manning was reportedly joined by Dallas Clark, Austin Collie and former teammate Brandon Stokley — can be found at the link. ESPN has "independently verified" the clip as authentic. Although it's impossible to tell anything for sure from the video, Manning appears to be throwing with his near typical velocity. It lends credence to the Indianapolis Star's Friday report that Manning has been throwing "much, much better" of late. ESPN also reports Manning has been conducting "aggressive throwing sessions in shoulder pads" since Tuesday, and that his throwing strength has "dramatically improved." The latest development in Manning's recovery comes just five days before his $28 million option bonus is due. This time next week, he'll almost certainly be a free agent.

Seems like a must for us. PM for 2-3 years then JS will be ready to take the reins......

The problem is Skelton becomes a UFA in two years and has indicated he wants to be a starter. If (big if) Peyton signs and Skelton is relegated to the bench for 2 years, he may want to jump ship once his contract expires and find a place he could start immediately, especially if PM is in AZ for more than 2 years.

An issue to be dealt with two years down the road is hardly a pressing problem.. (IMO)

If Skelton has done enough by then to warrant being an immediate starter, we should give him the RFA tag after next season and trade him for a pick. If Charlie Whitehurst can get a 2nd, surely Skelton can get something.

If you're saying that John Skelton's status would prevent us from signing Peyton Manning, then........

He will be an unrestricted, not restricted free agent. Meaning you cannot give him a RFA tender. He will have had four years of NFL experience.

Not "pressing," but something to consider if the team decides to once again bring in an aged QB to run the offense.

John skelton's desire to be a starter should have absolutely zero bearing on the cards interest in manning.

BTW...since we're on the subject. I hate Duke with every fiber of my being.

That is all....

I'm not willing to go down a road where the Cardinals lose John Skelton by bringing in another QB that has injuries. If the Cardinals could assure themselves of keeping Skelton, I would feel differently.

I'm sorry, but Having Manning at 75% for even two years will be better than having Skelton on the squad for the remainder of his career.

...And I LIKE Skelton.

IF Manning comes to AZ: Skelton's best option, IMHO, is to stick it out and improve as much as he can being Peyton's backup - all the while learning from Peyton - and prepping himself to be the man once Peyton retires. Maybe if we get big enough leads they'll play Skelton some late in games to rest Manning and keep him fresh. There's also the chance of Peyton getting injured at some point which would elevate Skelton to starter sooner.

Manning did work with Collie, Clark and Stokley the last few days at Duke. He had been working in South Florida prior to that.

Peyton loves South Florida and will sign with the Miami Dolphins.:D

It's a very real possibility.

And, for all those that ask why he'd want to be in the same division where he plays Brady twice a year: dude is the ultimate competitor. I think he WANTS to play against the best, even if it's a harder road to the championship.

So if the Cardinals go down the PM trail (and look at losing Skelton for nothing down the road) perhaps they should look at trading him for a pick(s) and drafting another QB in the upcoming draft. I wonder what his value is? I think his value should be as good as Kolb before he came to Arizona.

If you can get Manning, who cares about Skelton? He's a backup for 2 years. My plan would be sign Manning for 3 years, keep Skelton as the backup for 2 more, and draft Tyler Wilson from Arkansas next year to take over for Manning after he's done in 3 years.

I also read that he wants to stay in the AFC as he has been there all his career. But truthfully, who really knows....

I guess it depends on how one values Skelton's upside. I like him a lot.

He won't be seen as less of competitor if he meets him in the Super Bowl.
