I don't think it's a matter of how he's perceived. I think it's more a matter of how he's wired.

Well, as you can appreciate, he's not facing off with Brady but rather the New England 'D'. And, if it's competition he's seeking, then he'll see it taking on the superior 49er 'D' in the next few years.

So if the Cardinals go down the PM trail (and look at losing Skelton for nothing down the road) perhaps they should look at trading him for a pick(s) and drafting another QB in the upcoming draft. I wonder what his value is? I think his value should be as good as Kolb before he came to Arizona.

One huge flaw in your reasoning. Double Duece could just as well be sitting behind Kevin Kolb for the same length of time. With the money involved with keeping Kolb Skelton is going to have to play really, really well to be the starter in Arizona any time soon.

Manning or Kolb? Easy decision.

Good thing hes throwing at Duke. because he has an absolute better chance of being a Blue Deivil than a Cardinal!

I don't see Skelton, if he is Double Duece, doing a lot of sitting behind Kolb. Kolb has not impressed me and his injuries have only made it worse. However, I am open minded about the matter. I never got the nickname part. Actually, IMO, Lutui should be Double Deuce. :)

He will be an unrestricted, not restricted free agent. Meaning you cannot give him a RFA tender. He will have had four years of NFL experience.

I was saying after his 3rd season you shop him if he is a RFA and we have Manning.

I hear ya. Like I said, nobody knows when or where that was shot.

Peeps can hate on us all they want Shane, but I wouldn't touch Manning until I (the Cards) know for damn sure until he's proven he will be able to play this year & I hope they follow that judgement.

If or when they don't sign him, I can already see the outcries & bad mouthing the Cards decision makers get. People here are already assuming it's a done deal, but IMO the team needs to be smart about the whole situation.

Coming from someone that thinks Manning will probably be here, if he's not I'm perfectly comfortable with what we have in place. But Manning would sure be nice.

It goes (or should go) without saying, that the Cards' Doctors and outside medical consultants would have to sign-off on Peyton's health and ability to play in 2012.

Several sources have told ESPN during the past month that Manning's throwing strength has dramatically improved as his nerves continue to regenerate following his latest neck surgery Sept. 8. Dr. Robert Watkins, who performed the single-level cervical fusion, has stated publicly that he has cleared Manning to resume his playing career.

If you look really close, you can see it's Fitzgerald and Housler that he is throwing to. At least that's how I'm picturing it ;).

I guess it depends on how one values Skelton's upside. I like him a lot.
I like him too. BUt his upside is nowhere near high enough to discourage the Cards from bringing in a healthy Manning, and that's if he even lives up to his full potential. We're talking one of the top 5 -7 best QB's of all time.

The problem is Skelton becomes a UFA in two years and has indicated he wants to be a starter. If (big if) Peyton signs and Skelton is relegated to the bench for 2 years, he may want to jump ship once his contract expires and find a place he could start immediately, especially if PM is in AZ for more than 2 years.

LOL

Omg well then we better not sign Manning then!

Ohhhhh TJ. Just admit you want Manning like everyone else.

The fact that this is even being discussed or has to be explained to anyone is about to make my head explode.

LOL John Skelton

if Peyton's healthy and we don't go hard after him I'll be very sad.

lol. Manning in a Cards jersey would be well worth Kolb, Skelton, Bartel, Moxie Hall, our QB coach, and OC

Skelton is young, and MAY develop into a starting QB, but for every ray of hope I see from him, I see things that make me doubt his ability to be our #1

Peyton, on the other hand, is arguably the best guy to EVER play a snap. If he's healthy enough, there is no good reason that the Cards shouldn't be calling him every 5 seconds...

I won't be mad if he doesn't sign here. I'll be mad if we don't attempt to sign him. The only discouraging thing is that it will likely take an aggressive approach to sign him and we all know the pace Graves works.

No, he's quadruple duece.
