Well, there goes the trade deadline. Unless some trade was submitted to the league before the 3PM EST deadline, then this deadline went over for us as wonderfully as a fart in an elevator.

Did management get lulled by Amare's recent play? We have yet to find out.

Are the other teams too attuned to Amare's true value? Based on the trade proposals we heard, probably so.

All we can hope for is that the Suns FO does not:

1) Sign him to a heavy deal this offseason

2) Trot him out again as our first rounder

If he takes his player option, I am fine with that because next trade deadline will have the team in the driver's seat instead of Amare....

I've read that he's having dinner tonight with Kerr and Sarver and that they're going to "smooth out" any hard feelings and discuss the future.

Sources close to the situation insist that Amare will be paying for the meal.

I was at the forefront of trading Amare but now I see things playing out differently. Since the Suns kept Amare, they should at least consider resigning him. Exercise the bird rights and sign him. The Suns can't do any better competing in free agency with the brainless Kerr/Sarver team so might as well keep him. We are better off with Amare now since we could not get one young talent for him.

I think Amare might piledriver Kerr through the dinner plate and table after all the times he failed to trade him lol. Then choke slam Sarver on top of Kerr :)

Sarver (patting his coat pocket and pants pockets): Ah! Damn. I must've left my wallet at home. (Looks awkwardly at Amare) Sooooo....

Sarver and Kerr might try and trade their expensive dinner orders for the cheaper dollar menu items.

Hopefully $arver is going to sell him some goods like Kerr will be gone in 3 months and new ownership will be able to resign him as his personal finances have gone as well as his input into running the team.

why could i just see SarvKerr taking Amare to McDonald's and after he ordered an extra value meal, they told him he could only offer off the dollar menu?

i think cheese put it best last night . . . amare has become no more than a flashier version of zach randolph or carlos boozer. better offensively, but worse as a rebounder and none of the bunch plays defense. that's what we've got, zach randolph with an inflated sense of self entitlement.

Zach Randolph and Carlos Boozer seem to be more consistent (I could be way off on this). I would call Amare a very poor man's Dominique Wilkins. Wilkins was the guy who would get you 35 points but only 2 rebounds....

Personally, I thought that it was time to move him. This team isn't good enough defensively to win more than one series. That won't change much next season, unless Clark makes some serious strides.

On the bright side Lopez and Dragic have made big improvements in their 2nd seasons in the league. And if Lopez can stay consistent and out of foul trouble he and Clark can be quite good complements to Amare.

I don't think they got any great offers outside of Hickson and a late 1st maybe. He has some promise and a cheap deal, but the fan base would have to be patient in the re-building and I don't get the sense that you guys are ready for a rebuilding project. Sometimes that's what it takes to reload. With the Suns giving away draft picks , I understand that it's kind of hard to reload though.....Wow they really screwed the future up for a while! Hence status-quo.

Right. Plus, if we resign him, we could still get something for him in the future.

At least we can see him dunk on people for a few years while we continue the misery of no defense, no championships :bang:

LOL, love the analogy, but don't kid yourself, Zach Randolph has more self-entitlement than Amare will ever have.

Nice! I wonder if kerr will try and give Amare a first round pick in exchange. It's only fair to give something of equal value in return...

i don't know. amare thinks he's at the same level as Bron, Wade and Bosh... and that just ain't even close to the case. I'm thinking Randolph doesn't believe the same.

I will grant you that right now Randolph is playing great and doesn't seem to be a headcase. But the reality is, up until this year, he has been a chronic headcase. Like insane, Rasheed Wallace/Ron Artest headcase. Maybe he's turned the corner. But I'd prefer an inflated Amare over a Randolph headache (again, if he hasn't learned his lesson, that is).

oh, I definitely think he's been more of a head-ache than Amare, but I think Ouchie means that Amare thinks he's better than who he is as a player, not as a person. Amare's been the model of good behavior since he came into the league.
