If you’re wondering why he’s doing this, join the crowd. Apparently, Green is hell-bent on putting together a high-risk, high-reward, pass-heavy offense, no matter how the chips fall. With his team still lucky to still be in the playoff race, you would think it would behoove Green to employ a strategy that gives him the best chance to win games.

That is what Green is doing there Bucko. Even with the all time leading rusher in the backfield, this offense has struggled to run the ball the past month. Now he's injured and they have a rookie in there. If the Cards can't pass the ball, they are toast. McCown and King have not shown they can pass the ball. Make sense now?

I think what he's suggesting is that the Cards employ an offense like the one we "had" when we were winning. Throw just enough to keep the defense honest. Whether Green wants to run the offense similar to Martz remains to be seen.

Martz used Faulk all of about 10 carries last night and had Bulger throw a zillion times.48-17.

It reminded me of the Carolina game when King threw some 52 passes which equalled to 3 INT's. I just don't see why when were winning, that throwing the ball more, alot more, would be an improvement.

The Genius Martz have two workhorse RB in his team and still have a pass happy trigger. :stupid:

It isn't. But it seems as if a lot of posters here equate passing yards with winning.

If Josh throws for 90 yds, like he did vs. the Giants, but the team wins, WHO FREAKING CARES??? I mean, other than the anti-Josh idiots who post here.

How about that asinine fake fg? They would have been down 8 points. What an idiot. I have to say, I'd rather be a Cards fan than a Rams fan. How frustrating that must be!

Falling behind 14-0 early in the game will do that to your offense though.

What Green was saying is there are plays to be made downfield, we're not making them, King will change that. The problem is King didn't change that, except for the worse.

Navarre CAN throw downfield, but he's facing a very good pass rush, and it'll be interesting if we can give him time to throw.

There talking about that right now on NFL Radio. John Riggins called Martz an absent minded professor. Pretty funny stuff.

I see what you're saying Russ, and there are plays to be made down field, but if you are winning without the plays why mess around with it?

Because you can win a lot easier, and more often, if you're playing from ahead and not asking your defense to do as much.

It's clear now King doesn't have the arm to make those plays, Josh does, but wasn't.

I'd be stunned if we're going to Navarre to run a run oriented short passing attack. If you read the reports on Navarre the reason he fell so hard pre draft was precisely because he could NOT throw underneath. Too much velocity, no touch, scatter arm. He was much more impressive throwing downfield than short, all the scouts agreed upon that. So starting him now probably implies Green thinks the plays are open, and they are, but King CAN'T make the throw and Josh WON'T.

The problem is those plays take a while to develop and you're now asking your least mobile QB to make them against a team that had 29 sacks in the first 11 games, only 6 NFL teams have more.

The plays downfield are there, we just need someone to make them, hopefully that's Navarre.

I hope so. I hate to think where we go if it doesn't. Don't we have a QB on the practice squad?

Chris Lewis, watched him a lot at Stanford, which is why Dennis picked him up, as a favor to ironically Willingham. You don't want Lewis, he's a young King, very inaccurate, better athlete than Shaun though.
