If anything, I think there is a lack of respect shown to Nash by the officials considering he's a two time mvp. This is just Phil's go-to, pre-series, douchy coaching tactic. Pops gets his players to run a little dirty, Phil does this ish. It's what the good coaches do, give their team an edge. I hate it, but I see the benefit.

Phil has been bitching about calls all season long (but what's new). He's been fined around $100,000 IIRC just this year. I always say about him "dont bite the hand that feeds" but they continue to be the benefactor of biased officiating.

So to Phil Jackson. Ill see your "Steve Nash Carries the Ball" and raise you:

  • Phantom fouls on the perimeter on Kobe
  • Giving Bynum the ability to physically abuse defenders under the basket without penalty
  • Letting Gasol glide to the basket and get "and ones" without even being touched
  • You are not allowed to get between the basket and the player driving to the basket, even if your feet are set outside the cylinder. It will be a blocking foul.
  • Speaking of Gasol, allowing him to grab players by the face, throwing them into the floor only to be assessed a personal foul (but dont worry, the following day he'll be given a flagrant, which makes up for it :sarcasm:)
Feel free to add to this list, please

If Nash carries the ball, what the hell does Kobe do?

Kobe? Obviously you don't watch Laker games at all...Lamar Odom puts the ball in his pockets, juggles it, volleyball digs it and then dribbles again. Possibly the worst at carrying in the league.

Nobody cares about palming the ball...especially the refs. Everyone does it.

Generous calls!?!?!? WTF?? Has Phil been watching the Suns in the playoffs the last few years? Nash couldn't buy a call...especially against San Antonio. The only way an official would stop play is if Nash was dripping blood.

I have seen Kobe get more generous calls then anybody in the league. You freaking breathe on the guy or stare at him wrong and he gets a call. Phil is obviously playing head games because his boy Kobe is the poster child for generous calls.

Nash would get 20 FTA per game if they called hand checking in the playoffs.

Get ready for more of this. I'm sure Stern will have Salvatore and Bavetta in perfect form to ensure the Lakers get to the Finals again.

That was about the lamest of all possible things Phil could say... I'm actually disappointed with his effort. Come on Phil, you are better than that. You could talk about how Frye is always giving hard fouls. You could talk about how Stat travels when facing the basket. You could talk about any number of things, but palming? That is a pathetic effort - You are better than that.

I totally agree. Nash is star player who has never gotten start treatment. Opposing players are literally allowed to mug Nash before a referee will make a call. If Nash got the calls another star player gets, as SunsTzu notes, he would get 20 FTA per game.

The good news is PJ went after the most unflappable guy in the NBA. Nash is more zen than PJ

Nash just eliminated the Spurs for the first time in seven tries, and he did it in a sweep. He's not afraid of anything anymore.

This is rich. LOL

You know there is way too much time between series when coaches/players are taking jabs at each other.
