We already am paying $18 million to a WR. Why would you want to pay another $10 million for another one who has connections to a gang and was questioned about his relationship to a murder suspect?

Great player, but seems to be a distraction. We don't need him here!

Ginn is a better fit for this team.

That is my story and I am sticking to it.

Going to be a frenzy! Get em Keim!

When a 27 year-old receiver is cut after his career year, there's something very wrong. If a coach like Chip Kelly thinks he's toxic, I'm going to assume he's toxic.

Buyer beware.

Currently Jackson is working on a long term contract with a prison and it is expected to get finalized in the next two or three years... his agent is confident :)

Jackson has never been in trouble with the law and is an upbeat citizen to his community by donating his time and money to various charities. Stop being a naive ignorant racist.

i wouldnt say never....

Through court records, however, NJ.com uncovered a previously unreported arrest that occurred in September 2009. Jackson was pulled over for having illegally tinted windows, police said, and during the course of the traffic stop, officers said they discovered marijuana in the vehicle.
Jackson was arrested for possession of marijuana while driving, disturbing the peace and operating a car with materials that obstruct or reduce a driver’s view, according to court documents. The marijuana and illegally tinted windows charges were dropped as part of the plea deal and Jackson pleaded guilty to a disturbing the peace charge in April 2010

So, the race card has been pulled. What's next? Comparisons to Nazi's and Hitler? Or Stalin maybe?

I mean if you are going to derail the thread with useless hyperbole, you might as well go all in.

New issue that is being thrown out is that he has been involved in "gang affiliation". Jackson clearly denies it of course.....

What side of the fence are you on? It's kind if hard to tell from these 2 posts.

Yeah...I am not sure there is going to be a frenzy as this article has surfaced...http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/...bles.html#incart_graystrip#incart_orangestrip.

Teams will think twice ab out adding him IMO.

What an ugly, ugly smear job by the Philly front office against a guy who was a star and a franchise player for them ten months ago.

The fact that nobody was willing to trade for him should tell you something.

Maybe, but I think you could also look at the three years and $29M sitting on his contract, and his recent request to re-visit that contract, and a very, very deep receivers class and think that no one wanted to take on that kind of money.

The only team that I could think of that might be willing to take a deal like that is the Oakland Raiders, and I'd guess with their location near Berkeley that they have some good scouting reports on Jackson and probably thought it was best not to bring him so close to 'home.'

Wouldn't New England make for an interesting landing spot for Desean? Or Kansas City.

I don't think this is about the contract. There must be some deep concerns because you don't just cut a guy as productive as he is. Did you read the piece from the NJ newspaper? The thing that struck me was all the gang signs in photos and the fact that he spelled his record label, Jackpot without the K presumably because of the Crips standard of not putting a "C" next to a "K". Who knows the truth but that article was interesting.

I did read the piece. That's why I felt like I could comment on it. You can participate in the culture of gang life without either being in the gang or participating in illegal activity. It sounds like Desean is about as much of a Crip as Snoop Dogg/Lion is.

I am with you in not thinking he is in a gang but that is not the problem. I am probably naive because I also can't imaging why a guy like Hernandez would throw away his life the way he did. Was he in a gang? Probably not but that didn't keep him from being taken down by a lifestyle/culture that he chose to participate in and couldn't seem to separate from.

The problem might just be that his employer is uncomfortable with how he prioritizes his participation in that culture. There are plenty of NFL players who have gotten into serious trouble and teams hang on to them and seem to turn the other cheek. Vehicular manslaughter, weapons issues, battery, domestic violence etc. D Wash just got a $10M bonus so I trust the Cards (especially as conservative as they are) could take that risk because they have a sense of what and who they are dealing with. Presumably the Eagles, who have millions invested would be closer to the info than most.

D-Jax has a history of irresponsible behavior as evidenced by missing or arriving late to meetings, throwing up gang signs during games, and allegedly hanging out with gang members with the assumption that he engages in gang-related activities. If you recall, he was suspended from the game against us in 2011 for arriving late to a meeting. By the way, the gang stuff is nothing new. This has followed him since he was drafted. If it's resurfacing now, then there's a reason for it.

I don't think Kelly and co. are stupid enough to release their top-rated receiver without feeling discomfort about his personal life, and they certainly aren't slandering him publicly to save face. Notice how there aren't many people surprised with the move.
