Enjoy the Phoenix Coyotes while you can because they won't be around much longer.

Oh sure, the team is staying in Glendale for a long time to come with new ownership, but the Phoenix Coyotes? Nope. After this season finishes, they will officially become the Arizona Coyotes.

"We are very excited to announce that our franchise name will change to Arizona Coyotes for the start of the 2014-15 NHL season," said owner Anthony LeBlanc. "Becoming the Arizona Coyotes makes sense for us since we play our games in Glendale and the city is such a great partner of ours. We also want to be recognized as not just the hockey team for Glendale or Phoenix, but the team for the entire state of Arizona and the Southwest. We hope that the name 'Arizona' will encourage more fans from all over the state, not just the valley, to embrace and support our team."

We all knew this was coming, so no surprise. I dislike it, I like college teams being named for the state and pro teams for the city. Ah well. At least we still have our Phoenix Suns, I pray they never become the "Arizona Suns", puke.

I like it. I like how it aligns with most of the other local sports teams in the Valley who all also use some shade of red as their primary color. Except the Suns of course who are a unique case given their comparative age.

I do like that 3 of the teams kinda match colors. Though, the colors couldn't be more boring.

I wish everyone (Suns included) would've just copied ASUs colors. Maroon and gold would certainly work for 'Suns". I like how Pittsburgh has all their teams in Black and Gold, very sharp.

I couldn't disagree more with this whole post.. Especially the Maroon and Yellow (not gold by any means) the Sun Devils wear.. That is the worst color scheme of any of the AZ teams..

I don't see how that is possible.. I have looked for some Coyotes gear recently.. Its pretty scarce.. And Im assuming every hockey fan is a rail thin twig, because the only sizes are M-XL once you do find some gear..

My wife and I can't stand the Diamondbacks new colors. We only wear their old colors and we haven't purchased anything with the new color scheme. We have run into plenty of other fans at games that feel the same way and are proudly wearing the team's original colors.

No, I've seen those before, a fan did those for fun. Supposedly the main logo and jersey isn't changing, just the shoulder patch.
