Taurasi suspended 1 game for her hit last game. She will serve her suspension on Tuesday vs the Liberty.

Taurasi hit Stars forward Dearica Hamby in the back of the head with a forearm in the second quarter of a Mercury 78-72 win. She received a technical foul. But after further review from the WNBA offic, the technical was rescinded and the play upgraded to a flagrant foul 2, which carries a one-game suspension without pay.

Phoenix Mercury unhappy over Diana Taurasi suspension
Center Brittney Griner insisted on being quoted about the suspension being "bulls--t," saying that neither she nor Chicago's Cappie Pondexter were suspended last year for an incident in which both were ejected.

Mercury coach Sandy Brondello also believes the Taurasi penalty was too stiff.

"She did obviously hit the girl but another player in a similar incident a few games before did the same thing but she wasn't suspended," Brondello said. "So to me it's more let's keep it consistent. It's not just what Diana Taurasi does. That's my biggest disappointment."

Lost on a last second shot tonight, ugh. Mitchell sparked the comeback in the second half and Griner finally started making shots. Proud of the team to come back from a 15 pt deficit to take a 5 point lead, but losing the game by 2 pts hurts. Really missed Diana tonight.
