Been to both the Jersey shore and Philly. :)

Jersey gets a bad rap, Philly doesn't. If you can believe it my first trip to Philly was via Greyhound bus on my way to visit my dad in Nanticoke (no I'm not surprised if you haven't heard of it--near Wilkes-Barre).

You want to get a BAD impression spend some time in and around the bus station, scary.

I think a simple "Thanks for Curt Schilling. Too bad about Travis Lee" would probably work just fine for that chump.

I mean it is still a cool city but NOTHING compared to what it once was.

I was talking about population! WTF are you talking about?

My second favorite team is the Bills and I don't get it. The only words which make me mad as a bills fan are:

-wide right
-the bills suck: they had 4 chances to get a ring
-The Giants deserved to beat the bills (no they didn't-it was a fluke)
-cowboys
-dolphins
-Jim Kelly sucks
-Thurman Thomas sucks
-Andre Reed Sucks
-Bruce Smith sucks

For the present:

-the bills have no defense
-they will end up in 4th place
-Losing Price was huge (maybe, but they have Josh Reed)
-Travis Henry is so-so (He wai in the PRO-BOWL)

OK being orig. from Philly.....

I was insulted by what the JA reporter said about Phoenix and HOW great Philly is!!!! hmmm.
(he should stay with his beer!!! :) )

That JA has no idea of what this area is.
We came out here to visit 13 years ago b4 we decided to make the move. When we decided to do it, the family and friends just fought with us on the decision (just about what that JA said).

It wasn't till some of my cousins came out and said WOW!!!! They really liked it here but THEIR family was still in Philly (mine was out here now).

Going "down theshore" the first time, I was 6yo.. Took the Greyhound to Atlantic City...WAYYYYY b4 the casinos.
Then when a teenager, spent my life at Seaside and Wildwood!!!

We moved out here for what the valley could offer, and so far.....

I have my prob with the people that live here!!
I can always tell someone from the east coast when they cross a parking lot!!!!! b

I LOVED Montini's article today. I was laughing my ARSE off over it until he said one thing....

You can BASH Philly all u want but YOU DONT BASH THE MUMMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have Mummers "blood" through me and that one thing u don't touch.....

See that the one thing Philly has over Phoenix.......tradition!!!!

I hope with my kids generation, Phoenix will have that and we are starting with the CARDINALS!!!!!!!

I love the Cards now that i Live here ( 9 yrs)) because i know the players w/o there jerseys on ( well till this year i need a score card, will change in 2 weeks....CAMP)

I wouldnt move back there if you paid me!!!!!! I like to visit but thats it!!!!!!
Philly will ALWAYS be my hometown...BUT I live in the Phoenix area NOW!!!!

BTW.. any one have a good cheesesteak or hoagie!!!!!!

you know, you may find this funny, but I did the math & Phoenix actually grows by roughly 25,000 people every year!!!!

considering when the next general census comes at, I think in 2010, Phoenix should have a general populuation of about 1,570,000.

scarey, isn't it!!

There are good things in Philly, South Street (if I remember correctly) comes to mind.

Other than that I think I'll pass on it but I've been to AC many times.

according to todays AzCental article, in April 2000 Phoenix was 1,321,000 & in July 2002, Phoenix was 1,371,000.

I did the math from there, got 25,000/year & multiplied that by 10 & added that figure to 1,321,000 & got the rough population estimate for Phoenix in 2010 which was something like 1,570,000

OT - Random Philly/South Jersey Stuff

Anyways I LIVE in Trenton.
Yo, Rug! I used to be Promo Mgr. of the Trentonian. I (sheepishly) admit to being the original point guy for the swimsuit issues and page 6 features, Cheryl was my assistant. (Apologies, Jersey Girl - things got out of hand and "promotion" became confused with "editorial."). I do take credit for various contests - including Vote for Best Guitar Player of All Time (Winner - Jimmie Hendrix. 4th Place - Andre Segovia (see! A few Trentonian readers did have class).

(Note - In answer to the age-old question: Who makes the best pizza - DiLorenzo's South Broad or DiLorenzo's Hamilton Ave. - the answer is "neither - the best pizza comes from Federicis in Freehold.")

Jersey Girl - Right-on about Brodeur. But please tell us you're not a 610 WIP regular - those folks are downright evil!

Peoria - "Mummers" became part of the All Time Worst Pun in our circle of friends, when this guy named Phil said: "Mummer's the word!"

I've heard of Nanticoke. There is an ancient Indian trail called "the Nanticoke trail" by European settlers - It connected the Wyoming Valley (on the Susquehanna River near Wilkes Barre) with the Chesapeake Bay near Northeast, DEL (s/o Christiana).

Think of it - On this one single thread, there are 5 Cardinal fans who live in Jersey. (Not to mention several other Cardinal jerseyites who populate this bb).

Go figure.

Cheesesteaks

The best cheesesteaks?

Made by "Lazo" the cook working on prision release in The College of New Jersey's cafetieria. It is unbelievable. He also makes one with pepperoni in it. Slobber!

Any way the Philly cheesesteak thing is a scam. I went to the "home of the cheesesteak" What is it? Pats or something? IT sucked. and it sucked the other 50 times I went there. (reason to go there 50 times is that it is a good place to bring visitors)

I have had cheesesteaks made in Maine that were better.

I was and always have been deeply dissapointed that Philly Cheesesteaks were not what they are talked up to be. CAUSE I LOVE CHEESESTEAKS!!!!!! Who doesn't?

OH YEAH ! Jeff Gollin, page 6 girl? GREAT IDEA! Think about it men. In this newspaper there is a full page spread of a hot woman every day. AWESOME!

Hey Jeff -- 610 can bite me! Those guys are a bunch of losers who don't know a thing. My sister, brother and I could host a more intelligent, amusing talk show on sports.

And Peoria, you're right, dude. No bashing of the mummers, man!

And nidan, South Street is cool. A little strange at times, but cool!

My brother, sister and I were talking about this issue last night. The whole "I'm better than you" thing is a little ridiculous. Doesn't surprise me that Philly started it.

I have heard South Street and Mill Ave are similar. hmm?
That's what I have heard.. A little too old for both places :)

Pat and Geno's suck for cheesesteaks.. only the tourist go there!!! ;)
The best was from your local pizza shop. They made everything. Pizza, cheesesteaks and hoagies.

My aunt and uncle still live at Harbison and the Blvd. and there is a place there.. ( wife's family left South Philly for A.C.)
The last time we came to "home," they went down there at 11pm and got us cheesesteaks and then the next night, had the hoagies.

You have to be from Philly to understand the Mummer's. They tried years ago to but it on national TV but it didn't work. I thing there is a petition going on the Internet to get them on some cable channel. This past year, had the family tape the parade so we could watch it! lol

I am hoping, next year, the Cards and Eagles play each other, I believe. We are going back the beginning of Oct., hoping they are playing each other around that time so I can make the plans to go to that game (if it's in Philly). I WILL BE GOING AS A CARDS FAN!!!!!!!!

(16 days for us to leave for training camp!!)

Somewhat similar but South St is (as you would expect) more crowed, ie less open more traffic.

This is mostly that we have a lot more room out here.
