I've gotta go with the bye week. I heard that they have upgraded in every facet of the game. :D

at St Louis

We get no respect as it is. So, if we beat Cincy, Detroit, Carolina, etc. then we gain very little because that will have been expected. Losing to any of them doesn't cost that much respect since most of the national media crap on us anyway.

A win against a quality team, on the road no less, is the thing we've always been lacking to try to gain some measure of repsect. That palyoff win in Dallas had us going in that direction until the train got derailed the next year.

It depends on what Lex is asking though. If it's that we can win ONLY one game and go 1-15, then I might agree with 11 and say Cincy.

If we can win many games in this scenario, but we get to pick one of those, then at St Louis is my pick.

Green Bay, second home game. This game has been targeted for a sellout with the way the flex packs are being marketed.

Not only would it be great to get a win right before we go on the road to St. Louise and cowtown, it would be totally sweet to spend a day at Sun Devil Stadium in 110 degree heat swilling the sweet taste of victory over those big sweaty *********** fans.

I was at SDS for Steve Young's last game, Favre has pretty much committed to retire after this year, it would be great to send him out of here with a loss.

I picked the bye week. If we win that, it will give us 17 wins on the season.

I put the bye week in there so you could see where it fell in relation to the other games, so voters could decide which game was most important.

I realize now that it provides a comic choice for some...no problemo.

Game 1, at Detroit. Start the season 1-0, with an NFC road win, over a team the Cardinals should beat. (With last year's #30 offense and #31 defense, the Lions were actually ranked lower than the Cards on both sides of the ball.)

Lose this one, and it's gonna be a lo-o-ong season.

Picked at Detroit. We haven't in recent memory won the first game of a season and this one I'm actually travelling to Detroit for so I really don't want to have to hear it from Lions fans.

I picked a win over the Niners on Dec. 7 ...... it either sets us up to win the division with a win over seattle, or it will knock the niners out of contention for the division title......

It's a condensed version of "Word to your mother!", which was an 'old school' street phrase that meant "That statement you just made is so righteous, that you can tell your mother without any fear of retribution."

I picked the Cowboys...I like watching them lose.

I picked Pittsburgh...but only because I will defintely be there.

I agree that a win in the opener in Detroit would be a great way to set the tone for the season, so that game is hugely important. However, my trip to Detroit looks to be cancelled due the purchasing of a house here in NJ (closing on Aug. 29th). It looks like I'll be shoulder-deep in moving boxes on Sept. 7th.

I picked the Detroit game. I want to see this team over .500, and even if they are only 1-0, at least for two weeks we will not be below .500.
