MN Reporting Tomlin

10 o'clock news lastnight in Minnesota reported that Tomlin was the new head coach for Pit. The reporter said they were on the phone all day with various people, and it was back and forth all day. What led them to report him as the head coach was a talk with a Tomlin relative who said that Tomlin had called him and said he had received an offer from Pit and was going to accept it.

Personally anything will be hard to believe until a news conference at this point. This is unbelieveable, what a screwy deal.

I am praying that Tomlin gets the job, it would mean wonders for the Cards in terms of good new coaches. I like Pendy myself, but I am willing to see him go for equal or better coaches that reside in Pit that would probably end up here.

Maybe their plan is the select a coach, leak the hiring, and see the fan reaction prior to finalizing the deal. They only hire one coach every couple of decades so it has to be a good one!!

Whomever they hire, I don't think he'll last more than 5 years, though.

Finally!

It's official: Tomlin is Steelers' new coach
Jay Glazer / FOXSports.com

The controversy should now be put to bed.

FOXSports.com has learned that the Steelers have finally informed Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin that they have in fact chosen him as their next head coach. Tomlin is slated to fly to Pittsburgh by tomorrow morning provided the two sides can work out a contract.

The two sides began negotiating this afternoon and as long as a deal can get done, the Steelers should announce him as their coach tomorrow.

Tomlin was originally scheduled to fly to Mobile, Alabama for this week's Senior Bowl but was asked by Pittsburgh brass to not get on the plane.

Calls to Tomlin have not been returned but sources close to the coach said he expects Tomlin and the Steelers to be able to work out the terms of the contract by this evening.

Hardly sounds official. Maybe the Steelers should just hire both of them as dual head coaches. :sarcasm:

They'll all be in Arizona :bhiich: .

I don't see how they can keep them. I would think they would be bitter about how their buddies Whis and Grimm were treated. That wouldn't be fair to Tomlin either.
