Saw the trailer for this one in the theater. This one actually looks like it has potential.

this is a FANTASTIC set-up for a movie. I'm gonna be dubious on the execution simply because I haven't seen Sandler make a really funny movie in ages. Hoping to be proven wrong... the guy is still HILARIOUS in interviews and little short sketches he does. Just want him to bring that back to the movies he stars in.

Wow...via Rotten Tomatoes....13 Reviews with an average rating of "3" out of 10. Metacritic 10 reviews with an average rating of "25" out of 100.

They are killing this film. Sucks. I really really wanted this to be a great movie. I had higher hopes than the typical Sandler movie too with CC directing.

General rule of thumb: The longer in advance that the publicity campaign for a movie goes full-out, the worse the movie is likely to be.

The critics are just panning this because it's Sandler. Talk about being overly dramatic. "You aint a cool critic, unless you rip Adam Sandler!" It was not nearly as out of left field stupid as most of his recent movies have become. (ie Grown Ups 2)

I didn't take my kids yet, but I swear every kid in the theater was yelling and cheering the whole movie and me and my friends laughed because as soon as the credits rolled some little girl literally YELLED; "THAT MOVIE WAS AWESOME!!!" lol it was funny.

The movie was silly and had a lot of usual Sandler camp but it was not a 3. I would give it a 6 just from usual movie standards and as a KIDS movie I would give it a 7. I swear critics take themselves way too seriously. It's a kids movie, and kids are LOVING it. I enjoyed a lot of the 80's arcade awesomeness too. There was some ridiculous stuff ofcourse, but overall it was silly and funny and enjoyable.

Peter Dinklage was freaking hilarious. He did this purposefully bad cajunish accent that was hilarious and him requesting a Martha Stewart/Serena Williams sanwich from the President was gold.

PS. Michelle Monaghan is still extremely hot.

I find it funny that what he hates about the movie is exactly what he is doing in his review. He sounds like a Kevin Smith character.

ROFL I thought the exact same thing!

I had to drop the car off for a few hours for some test. With no ride and nothing to do except get lunch and see a movie, this was the only one playing that matched up with the appointment time. I should have just sat on the lawn outside and watched the grass grow; it would have been more entertaining. How Sandler can take such a promising premise, and such a good actor in Dinklage, and ruin them, is beyond me.

Before I even started reading your review, I knew you weren't going to like it. :p

Man, when I started watching the first trailer, I started to get excited. Peter Dinklage in a crazy role in a movie about invading video games? Then I saw Sandler, then I heard some of his lines, and I was crestfallen. Man, how does someone who used to be so funny get to be so pathetic?

I just watched it a few days ago. My wife and I were the only ones in the theater. That in itself was cool.

Either way, I really thought the first 1/2 to 3/4 of the movie was pretty funny then it just leveled off at the end. It was good. I just wish the comedy continued through the end, but it just didn't.

Awesome idea for a movie. I was stunned at how dumb it was. Worst movie I've seen in a while. However, at least I learned a new word for the day.
