Attenborough is going to be the narrator on the DVD release.

I agree about the Weaver take. She is horrid.

Oh in that case I won't even bother to record this on DVD I'll wait for the real DVD's to come out with Attenborough.

thanks

As "Planet Earth" lives up to the loftiest of expectations, the most fortunate viewers will be seeing the film on the Discovery HD Theater channel, because it was shot with high-definition equipment. And purists equipped with the latest home video equipment will be glad to know that "Planet Earth" will be released April 24 on all three DVD formats -- regular DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray -- and the two cutting-edge formats will feature the original narration of naturalist-explorer David Attenborough

I meant to post this before. If you order the DVD set be sure you order the BBC version, not the one they sell on Discovery Channel's website. I made
the mistake of getting it from Discovery and it has Sigourney Weaver narrating, not David Attenborough who's on the one the BBC sells.

You can get it on Amazon.

I want to get the HD-DVD version of this show, but they leave out the extra disc of commentary/features from the regular DVD version.

YEah that's the rub with me too. The Discovery version has an extra CD with more stuff, the BBC version has Attenborough and costs less.

I may wind up ordering the BBC one too. I let my dad borrow mine and he sent me an email the next day "boy I see what you mean about not having Attenborough, she is really hard to listen to."

Watching it an HD glory then to have to buy it in down converted standard definition DVD in 480p just makes zero sense to me. If I buy it, I want it the way I watched it....in HD.

For those who like this show I'd recommend another one that's on On Demand PBS right now. It's a nature show called Superfish. Rick Rosenthal goes around the world filming billfish(sailfish, marlin etc) in the water it's absolutely stunning stuff and the story behind it is pretty alarming(he says 90% of the worlds billfish have disappeared in the last 50 years to overfishing by commercial boats).

There's a scene with him off Mexico with at least 100 sailfish swimming around him, a scene where he finds a sailfish nursery and has a baby in his hand that literally fits in his hand. ANother scene with him swimming with a 1000 pound marlin that has 3 male marlin below it looking to mate, and 3 bullsharks below that looking to eat dinner.

It's on DVD too.

Congrats on the Blu purchase. Did you get a PS3 or a stand alone?
