Anyone else over the years tired of seeing Player make that feeble attempt at a tackle everytime a team runs back a touchdown? I have to laugh. He throws his arms straight up in the air and leans toward the runner and falls on the ground. I thought we could use some humor.

Then watch the replay

The fact that Player's missed tackle gave up the game-winning touchdown?

I have it Tivo'd, and it is still not funny.

Your sense of humor, and mine vary dramatically.

Unless it is just us grieving differently.

Agreed. I said this in another thread, but perhaps if he wore a real *&^@ing face mask he might stick his head in there on a tackle. PLEASE BRING BACK CAPSHAW!

kick the freaking ball to the sideline. I was screaming it before the play. I mean, wtf they can't make a simple play on offense why let their special teams have a chance?

Someone is going to post the statistic of when it last happened... might have been Martay Jenkins if I remember correctly, or maybe that was a kickoff. Who knows, big special teams plays for us are pretty few and far between.

For my sanity, please don't tell me how long its been.

shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'm trying to feel sorry for myself. Just lie and say it happened in 96. I won't know the difference.

Thanks.

I hope Player is gone by tonight! They have to send a message to ST players and what better way. You do not punt straight to Hester! Remember last night, the punt before Hester's TD, Player line drives it too him, where lucky he didn't run that one back.
I by the way, I would cut him just for that stupid ass facemask. Just for PR alone, our image will be better without that goofball.

We need to go and sign Danny Baugher of the Patriots practice squad. He grew up in Arizona, led the nation in punting avg and net until he blew out his knee the 7th game of the season last year at U of A running a bad snap (39 yard run and got the first down). Its now a year after the injury and he is hitting the hell out of the ball. He was a middle linebacker in high school so he knows how to hit and wouldn't pull a Player and just get out of the way.

http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/playerDetail.jsp?yr=2005&org=29&player=43

BTW- I did grow up with Baugher so I might be a little partial, but the fact is he was a game changer in college and had he not blown out his knee he would have been starting for some team this year. He averaged 47.5 yards per kick but because he didn’t have enough punts (out the last 4 games) he wasn't eligible for the NCAA record for highest average.

Agreed.

Player to me is target #1. He should have been canned when Capshaw was eating his lunch in pre-season. And every game since he's had some horrific punts. And now, because he thinks he's a "punter" and not an NFL player, he wears a face mask that gives him no protection and he does nothing more than make a token arm tackle because he doesn't want to take on a returner.

Player, you play in the National Football League. Not the "Let's just see how badly I can punt this" league. If you botch a punt and the other team takes advantage of it, and you choose to wear a silly face mask, then you sure as hell better be willing to get your nose broken trying to tackle the guy.

Remember that when you're packing your bags.

I remember when Denny got here he asked player to fix his facemask. Player declined and Denny wanted to cut him. At the time, Player was a very good punter. Ownership told Denny Player stays.

When you suck...you punt.

And so goes the Bidwill way....

Not much humor in that
