It's about that time...

Here's a link to the cool playoff scenario generator on Yahoo. It's fun to see how each game affects the big picture. Just select who you think will win each of the remaining games or use one of the pre-established rules and the program calculates the seeds and matchups.

The most likely opponent for the Cards in the first round is Green Bay.

Fun little tool to pass the time...

I kinda like this one:

back to back home games against the Pack. That would be strange.

Even though I believe we are the better team, I'm somewhat uncomfortable with playing the same, playoff-caliber team twice in a row. Of course, if we play like we can then it won't matter. :)

So maybe if everything is wrapped up by the last week, we just rest the starters and tank the game to Green Bay and not show them anything from our real game plan. It may also give the Packers some false hope....

All that money must make you dizzy.Whisenhunt TANK an NFL game? Plus I believe the giants and vikings play the last week of the season so we CAN'T afford to tank much less lose that game if we hope to be the #2 seed.

I see an all out attack on the packers as if it was the last game we play this year.We can always come up with more ways to attack them if the giants don't beat the vikes. The first game will open up new ways to attack the packers if need be.

Thats why you try everything. To get the biggest feel for the most ways to attack them.Don't go into a shell and hope the one plan you have is the way to win.Throw everything at them and find out the best way to attack them and know we can use it when it counts.

Or possibly the extra motivation from thinking we wanted to play them.. I'm still confident going against them. I think it's clear that we are the better team.

This tool is quite fun.

MIN plays CIN, at CAR, at CHI, and NYG. For the Cards to get the Bye, the Cards need to win out and MIN needs to lose 2. I feel that the hardest oppoent for MIN is this weeks game vs CIN. If CIN can win, then the Cards should put max effort to win all their games and hope CAR or CHI get lucky, or the NYG need a week 17 win to get into the playoffs.

If MIN wins this week, it seems unrealistic to think that 2 of their last 3 games would be losses. If that is the case, then once the Cards lock up their division (on MNF!), they should go into a limited rest mode and get everyone healthy for another playoff run.

I honestly think that i CIN wins this week, MN is going to slide into the playoffs. Favre has faded at the end of how many seasons now? And how often does MN choke at the end of the year?

But damn, I would love to get the pukes here at home for a good ole fashioned ass whooping.

Doug, I only meant rest the starters if everything was warpped up by then. We'll know by week 17 if there's a chance or not at getting the #2 seed. If the game doesn't mean anything to the playoff scenario, then there's no reason to give away real stragtegy to an opponent we'll likely face the following week in a win or go home game.

Even if the game only means something to the Packers and not the Cards, we should go for it. If we can knock them out and not have to play them back to back, then we should. I'd rather take my chances on the Giants or Cowboys myself...

I have the Cardinals as the #3 seed playing Dallas as the #6 seed. GB #5 vs Phila #4. New Orleans would probably HATE to see the Eagles in the next round. Too bad that Jimmy Johnson isn't around to create some bizarre scheme to throw off the Saints offense. I still wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles took out the Saints. The Vikings will be tough to beat at home, but it can be done. How about a repeat of last years NFC Championship Game. With the same results!!!! The AFC is wide open. The Colts love to choke. The Pats D is average at best. The Bengals looked awful today. San Diego has Norv Turner running the show, but they are probably the best team in the AFC. Denver is a year or two away from being VERY good. How about a real darkhorse - Miami!!

As a Cardinal fan, I just can't bring myself to worry about anything other than Monday Night. Win the NFC West AGAIN, then deal with the Playoffs-one game at a time.

You had me up until this point. Miami has a challenging schedule left and even if they win out, they still need some help. I don't see them making it in.

Miami is a huge stretch, since on paper the Colts & Bolts are significantly better. I actually have liked the Colts since I was a kid, but they just don't get it done in the playoffs. I have very little respect for Norv Turner as a HC, but they are so good that they could win in spite of him. The thing that is interesting about Miami is that they are an extremely well coached team & that starts with Parcells. They would be twice as dangerous with Ronnie Brown still healthy, but they are a steady bunch. Realistically, they are a year or two away & probably need a QB to go deep into the playoffs. I was being slightly facetious in that pick. If my life depended on it, I would probably go with San Diego over Indy. I think the SB champ comes out of the NFC this year.
