The Niners win today hurt, but long story short, we can still decide our own fate on the field.

We'll be favored next week against the Titans, if we take care of business we're still very much in it with just 2 weeks left.

We don't have much of a shot if we don't win out. Even if we do win out we will still need either the Saints or Panthers to lose 3 of their remaining games. What helps is those teams are playing each other 2 more times.

I'm not sure that's true. Our conference record & division record are poor. Other tie breakers I believe take place if 3 teams finished tied.

You're actually correct. There is a likely scenario where we could go 11-5 and not get in.

Doesn't change the fact that we need to go take care of business on the field

Another way would be for us to win 2 out of 3, 49ers win 2 of 3 and Carolina to lose 3 of remaining 4...

The Niners win against the Hawks was basically a death blow to our chances unless Carolina or the Niners lose 2 games & we win out

Really crappy thing is that if we, the whiners and the panthers go 11-5....we stay home for the playoffs despite beating the panthers head to head.

The Falcons are our best friends, if they can knock off the panthers in ATL the last week of the season, there are several scenarios where we get in even at 10-6

We've done that 1 time since 1977 & got to beat The Hawks or Niners to do it at least ;)

I would like to see it, but think it would take a miracle to be in the 2013 tournament. 1 game at a time...lets beat the Titans first, who are playing pretty decent football.

Glass is half full = If we go 10-6 or even 11-5 and miss the playoffs....we won 10 or 11 games without our 1st rd pick and with Bradley Sowell playing LT for the bulk of the season after ending last year as the worst team in the NFL.

Add Jonathan Cooper plus another 1st round pick to a 10+ win team YES PLEASE!!!

Not trying to rain on your parade, but the Niners & Hawks aren't going anywhere & next years schedule looks like its gonna be a killer!!!

It changes every year, but improving on 9 or 10 wins might be even more of a challenge in 2014.

Sure, the Hawks and Niners aren't going anywhere...but, can you imagine the Cards coming into next year, off of a 10 or 11 win season, and playing a 3rd place schedule? That could be the perfect storm for another deep playoff run.

On paper it does look tough, but there's no way to look at a schedule for the following year in December and say if its the hardest or easiest schedule in the NFL. At this time last year the ATL and Hou games looked like some of the toughest on the schedule.

Where you finish only affects 2 games, the rest are set

Help me out here bud... Are you saying head to head competition isn't the first tie breaker? I understand the 49er deal, because if we beat them in wk 17, we basically tie the season, and other tie breakers will come into play.. But if we beat carolina head to head, and we end up tied in the standings, shouldnt we hold the tie breaker regardless of anything else?

I agreed with that. Dallas, Denver, NY & Oakland have always been horror shows for the Cards in the past especially in winning.
