He is way past his prime, and it takes him 10 seconds to kick the ball!! Im so sick of his short punts!!

I agree, he had a great career as a punter but they need to go after someone else. There are plenty of college punters with strong legs they can go after.

And if Rackers keeps this up, I really like him but just saying, then maybe they should draft Colorado's kicker late in the draft...

I agree, a main reason for keeping him was his holding ability and that apparently hasn't mattered this year due to all of the missed FGs.

Another brilliant coaching move. Have a guy easily outkicking Player all training camp and placing the ball much better. Yet we cut him for the aging older veteran who costs 4 times as much.

Which is also Bogus. Capshaw held the ball very well at training camp and with no problems. Rackers was johnny on the spot with his kicks at camp even with Capshaw holding.

Fred capshaw....no one has picked him up...at least on their active roster. He could probably be on the team...tomorrow if the Cardinals chose to do so.

Hardy Brown made a comment early in camp about Rackers missing several kicks with Capshaw holding and saying Rackers and Player were very good friends and he hinted that maybe Rackers was sandbagging to make sure his buddy made the team by suggesting he couldn't kick with Capshaw holding.

Personally I'd like to see a WR or a QB hold I've always felt the holder on kicks should be an athlete so if the snap is bad you have a chance to make a play out of it.

I agree. I also found it odd that Roger Werlhi held for Jim Bakken all those years...and Larry Wilson before Roger.

I distinctly remember a botched XP back in the day where Werlhi ran it in though...

What happened on the blocked punt yesterday?

I don't remember seeing a replay in the stadium (like most important plays).

I really like Capshaw in preseason also ... he could really punt some long balls ... I thought for sure that he was going to win the spot over Player ... politics or money I'm sure had something to do with it ..

Shipp missed the block the guy guessed which side Player would punt to and got it right.

I missed the pregame because Sirius hadn't switched to our game but apparently Hank Kuhlmann on pregame said to watch out for the punt blocks because on film he saw something KC did that would exploit our blocking. I guess many teams angle kick to keep the ball away from Dante Hall and he assumed we would to and KC does something to exploit that. They nearly got the first one and got the 2nd. All on Shipp he completely missed his block. But they came close at least 3 other times, gotta wonder if Zauner needs to shake things up a bit too.

Shipp didn't miss the block, per se, he made contact and kept the rusher on his outside shoulder, but the rusher got a hand out into Player's exaggerated punting angle...obviously the rusher was told to get a hand up for the angle...see...these are the little things that win ballgames...

Why couldn't the Cardinals have crossed the Chiefs up and punted to the left sideline this time after having punted to the right the last time?

Or...this time...ask Player to punt for hang time to induce a fair catch?

Something other than the same strategy would have been fine.
