so everyone can see he will not be NEARLY as productive without fitz and q. use the money to upgrade other areas to help out leinart.

I'd rather not go 6-10 to prove some stupid point about how well Warner will do in SF.

Wow. I'm new to the board so I don't know if this is commonplace, but you sure are saying the same thing over and over and over. Huh.

You really think Warner is that much better than Leinart? I agree he is better, but I think Leinart can take us to at least 8-8 with this team.

I'm as mad at Warner as anybody but you don't just let a guy walk to prove a point.

The Cards have made Warner a very fair offer IMHO, if SF is willing to top that offer the Cards then have to do the math and decide are we positive he's worth matching that offer.

You don't just make the decision because you're mad, you make it based on common sense.

Michael Smith on ESPN seemed to think the Cards had made their best offer. NFL Network seems to agree they think the cards offer is fair, and probably won't go up. IF SF decides to pay above that, then I say let Warner walk.

But I don't think SF will top that and I think in that scenario Kurt will choose to stay in Arizona and then you welcome him back.

As long as we don't get into a bidding war, I'm fine keeping Kurt. I am just mad that he's playing the money game and trying to say he's not, that he is above that stuff it's about respect etc.

Agree. With Warner tho we would be at least 12-4. I'm certain that Leinart may be great some day, but I'd rather have a QB I know I can believe in right now as opposed to later.

I give Leinart and the team a little more credit than 8-8. Our pass defense and run offense were atrocious last season and cost us a lot of games. People seem to think that Warner is the end all be all to this team, but there are many more holes on this team than QB that need to be addressed. Even if Warner is gone, we do not have a gaping hole at that position, but we still have limited depth in the secondary and a legit pass rusher

Warner was arguably the best qb in the league last year. Do you really feel that Leinart is even close to being the best in the league? Do you really feel that Leinart would have done nearly as well against the defenses we faced in the playoffs?

Actually, I defend Leinart all the time and want him to take over whenever Kurt leaves. But, with Warner back I KNOW we'll have a good offense next year. With Leinart, I would HOPE we have a good offense.

I want Warner to stay, but if he signs with SF, I have a vhs tape of that cards-pats disaster from december to console me a little.

With Warner, we naturally go away from the run and become one dimensional which lead us to the rough stretch from mid-November to late December last year and prevented us from being 11-5. Our pass offense would not be as good, but I guarantee our run offense would be better with Leinart in there and us not in the shotgun 70% of the time.

I agree we wouldn't have made the SB last year with Leinart, but we still would have made the playoffs and probably beat Atlanta. Warner puts up all these great stats, but he forces an offense to be one dimensional. We can't put off the future at QB forever. If we bring Warner back and he does not win us a SB, then it was a mistake because we could have been not winning the SB while we found out what we had in Leinart instead of paying Warner to finish off his career.

So that begs the question, anyone who wants Warner back at his asking price, do you honestly believe we WILL win the SB with him in the next 2 years?

I’d rather see Warner stay, but Cards are between a rock and hard place here. Obviously, we're going to see good offense with Kurt. But, after two years with Warner (given no injuries) we'll have an essentially untested Leinart, who'll be up for a new contract. It's a tough situation for management.
As such, I wouldn't give Warner the sky. If he doesn't sign, move on and see how Leinart work’s out. Use the money on whatever else will make the team better. Might have to keep Edge another year and pick up another RB (not Lamon Jordan). Do a lot more running plays next year.
Bottom line - whatever happens, people are going to complain

I don't KNOW Kurt will be good next year. I HOPE he will. I also see old QBs look grrrrrreat one year and collapse the next-Cunningham, Gannon. What Kurt did was awesome, but not flawless. There was a stretch where he was a bad game from getting benched. Who is to say that kind of stretch starts from game one next year and doesn't get better?

There is a lot of risk in Warner...which is why they aren't moneywhipping him. If he were 27, or 31, he'd have a monster contract on the table.

Teams that miss winning the freakin championship of the football universe by 40 seconds don't rebuild unless they're ********.

They don't stand pat either. Unless we get McFadden it looks like our only major additions will be draft picks. Even if we keep Warner and everyone else who hasn't left yet, that doesn't bode well for our chances of winning it all next year.
