Shanahan is obviously waiting to unveil Jake's all-star form until week 2.

Yep, that Shanahan is a genius. It's all part of the plan, I'm sure.

What about Boston? Two receptions for 20 yards and he committed a penalty. The Chiefs had the worst defense last year, and they made Boston irrelevant.

Boston was a complete non-factor in that game. He dropped at least 2 passes that I saw. Also the Chiefs really got some pressure on Brees. Vonnie Holliday was in his face all day long.

San Diego also had no way to rush the passer or stop Priest Holmes. Was an ugly ugly day for San Diego fans. The announcers still thought Boston will be a "huge part of the San Diego Offense". I wish I knew these guys I would clean house on a few wagers based on Boston's production this year.

Cardinal Mike!!

Of course, we still have a long way to go because we still look miserable out there on defense and special team play.

I watched the game and that Steve Tasker had his lips wrapped around Jakes butt for almost the whole game until the end when he finally said something a little negative about him. Jake looked exactly the same as he always has, he's just in a different uniform. Tasker said "MIke will take this tape and start developing Jake now" How did Shanahan get the rep as a QB developer? Who's he developed? I know people get sick of the "Jake" threads but this whole thing is irritating. Shanahan hasn't done anything since Elway and he inherited Elway.

Bet Jake is damn glad he has Portis to give the ball to. Shannon Sharpe did not look like a happy camper on the field.

All of those Jake supporters were correct in that he needs a good team around him. It takes many hands to carry this excuse for a QB. The Donks won inspite of Jake. The Cards couldn't win because of Jake. He will get better as the season goes on and will probably get his QB rating above 65. Good luck Jake and Denver fans.

The best thing about seeing these stories is the hope that in letting Jake and Boston go the Crads really knew what they were doing. Rod has got this ship moving in the right direction!

Great! Just so we don't ignore the fact we are ankle-deep in salt-water.

Is that Nemo?

Maybe we can build a life-raft with that $12 Million in cap space.

Boston will have better games this season im sure, but Jake Plummer isnt taking the Broncos anywhere. The Chiefs will beat the Broncos twice this year, so will the Raiders. Maybe even the Changers, thats as long as Plummer is the starter.

As for Jones, I can see him helping the Bucs this season.

He will get about 12 carries 50 yards and a TD against Philly....

Hows this for a vote of confidence....

From the Rocky Mountain News....

"He looked like a rookie out there. You could see the expectation level was very high. He was like a young guy starting his first game," Shanahan said.

Some choice quotes, anybody else think they've seen these before?

"I promise you," predicted an upbeat Plummer, "I'll be better."

"Well, we got the win," continued Plummer, who agreed with my belief that "That's all that really matters. ... We got 30 points, and we beat them by 20, and we could have played better. So that's encouraging ... I've never won a game (in the NFL) by 20 points."

There were few discouraging words from coach Mike Shanahan about Plummer's debut. Shanahan may have been fudging.

"I thought in the first half he played extremely well. ... But you could see that he was as inconsistent as he has been in (exhibition) games. That is going to happen, because he demands so much from himself ... I like the way he competes. He enjoys being out there. You could see even if he makes a mistake, he is ready to go."

Shanahan "knows the offense better than anyone alive, and he was telling (or yelling at) me that I stayed on Ashley too long and didn't see the lurker (cornerback Tory James)," Plummer said. "I should have pulled off Ashley and looked for my up receivers."

At least the weekend went half right as the whole country now knows the truth about why Jake was let go.

The thing that sucks is I think Denve is good enough to scratch their eway into the playoffs even with Jake - however, it will be apparent to everyone that HE is the player that keeps them from ultimately being a great team which will be damning enough. Can't wait to see them play someone good - classic Jake speak though - glad it's not us. Although I would give my left nut to have Portis as our back - holy cow is that guy awesome.

I agree Cheese, your left-nut is not too big a price to pay!

Most of my frustration from the Cards game was tempered by looking up Plummer's and Boston's stats on the day.

I hope they all fail miserably.
I don't care what anyone thinks about it either.

Did you see Portis bulldoze that guy into the endzone - one of the nastiest things from a RB I've seen in a long time.

I hate Criqui. He was announcing the Broncs game.

He was saying that Jake is a good QB & that one should look beyond his old stats because he played for the Cards.

He was ass kissing all day.

I wish Jake well, but not at the expense of ripping the Cards.

The guy is just a BEAST. He was the primary assassin of one of my Fantasy Teams.

Jake is SO lucky to have that study bailing him out.
