That just drives the point home. Jake is "inconsistent" and always will be.

Hence the second fumbled snap of the first half.

He is going to have Denver fans pulling their hair out...at least until he gets benched.

Jake the Fake

I'm thinking Plummet will last about 4 games before he's benched. I believe the Cardinals are better off with Jeff Blake at the helm and the players will play without the burden of knowing that Plummer can hurt them at any point in the game with a mental/physical error.

I'll add that it won't be long before the denver fans and media turn on jake. One or two poor performances and they will start calling for his head.

That, in turn will rachet up the pressure on him, forcing him into even more dismal play. Eventually, he will attempt another behind the back pass.

man, its going to be brutal watching that. like a real gorry accident that you just can't take your eyes off of.

he has the heart of a champion. I will never deny that. and, it wasn't his fault that the media tried to build him up to be montana.

but business is business. I hope he throws about thirty picks this year.

I did a frame by frame with TIVO, and he was NOT down. He got the pass off, but bounced it off the guy sacking his but. It still would have been an incomplete pass, but none the less, what a monumentaly stupid descision to try and trow that ball while being spun around and sacked.

J. Plummer 9/14 134 1 0 Not bad #'s at all for the first half considering all the mistakes...Madden said he played about as good as a QB could......however upon further review...
P. Manning 11/16 117 2 0

I'd say that was a tad better...no love for Peyton Madden?

But nice recovery for Plummer:)

Jake was really lucky tonight. He shouldn't have gotten out of the first half with no turnovers and a TD, but he did. Maybe there is something to the Cardinals curse? He throws that first pass for us, the LB catches it and takes it the distance.

I didn't get to watch Jake play tonight on MNF, but as I said before in a different thread, for the past 4 years, every single time Jake dropped back to pass, I got a lump in my throat. Every single time.

That is how I got forwardpassophobia.

What?
Welcome NW, I will place my lunch order tomorrow.

I was really hoping Jake would play better as that would have valadated why I cheered him on for six years. He is really a great person and lets face it took us to our first post season victory since most of us have been alive. That being said.

I had a gut reaction when the donks went down by 8 that something bad was about to happen. His throws were very crisp until that point and yet lucky. Sharpe's one hander comes to mind. The attempted throw in the grasp also comes to mind. I swear that call would have been a fumble here. Looked very erratic to me. Anyway, Game on the line and he tried to force it. INT! How many times have we seen that? I bet more than forcing a touchdown.

Either way we as Cards fans can't win. Here are our choices:

1- Plummer succeeds and proves the Cards have no talent management.

2- Plummer sucks and we are dorks for hitching our wagon to this guy for 6 years.

We can't win here.

I like Jake as a person and his heart can't be questioned. The result is the problem.

So far I am very happy with Blake. And I will leave it at that.

An excerpt:

CBSSportsline.com
Denver quarterback Jake Plummer didn't get off to quite the start he was hoping for in his first home game with the Broncos. He even got booed.

Plummer fumbled his first snap, threw a pass that Colts linebacker Gary Brackett should have intercepted, and missed a wide-open Ed McCaffrey on what would have been an 18-yard touchdown. And that was just on the first drive.

He was much better on Denver's second drive, thanks to Ashley Lelie.

Plummer rolled out on the first play of the series, thought about running, then pulled up for a pass at the last second. Lelie adjusted to the slightly underthrown ball and made a leaping grab over Mike Doss for a 55-yard touchdown.

But that was about it for Plummer.

He dropped another snap in the second quarter, then was booed after Anthony Floyd intercepted his overthrown pass on Denver's first drive of the third period.

Plummer was 15-for-22 for 205 yards before being replaced by Steve Beuerlein midway through the third quarter.

Lets not forget that the TD pass would have been thrown whether it was blown coverage or double coverage.

We were waiting for the pick as well, decided to take the dogs and found out about it when we came back.
