Broncos | Plummer limiting mistakes
Fri, 18 Nov 2005 19:50:32 -0800

The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos QB Jake Plummer has not thrown an interception in 193 passing attempts, setting a Broncos record. He's thrown only three interceptions all season. In six years with the Arizona Cardinals, Plummer threw 90 touchdown passes to 114 interceptions. In his three years with the Broncos, he's improved by throwing only 30 interceptions to 55 touchdown passes.

Where was THIS Plummer????

I heard a story of Shanahan basically getting in Jake's face and telling him to knock off the stupid crap. When Jake repeated it, He'd get back in his grill. I wonder if he was labeled our savior so fast that nobody ever held him accountable for his mistakes. Just "jake being jake" or "You have to accept his comebacks with his boenheaded plays" sort of a mentality we had even as fans.

Now they're starting to call him Jake "No mistakes" Plummer. I doubt things would be much different, especially on this years team. The Broncos have a perfectly balanced attack which increases the efficiency of the QB. Unlike the Cardinals who can't run and are more predictable. Add in a bad defense and getting behind early often just compounds the problem. Oh wait a minute, we were supposed to have a good defense this year.

Good analysis here.

When Jake was here, the defense was just as bad if not worse than it is now, as was the offensive line.

It just shows you how stats are misleading. I doubt he's playing any better now than he did for us, but the stats are much better, because he's put in better situations. Yet many here were on his case back in 2001-2002, and now the national media and Bronco fans are all over his jock.

Go figure.

You've got to give Shanahan credit for seeing diamonds in the rough - he consistently is able to do it (Maurice Clarett aside).

Russ: No comment?

Jake has had the tools, he just doesn't have to worry about doing everything the way he did here.

He has gone 7 straight games without an INT. Did he ever play seven games in a season without an INT in the desert?

Nice sarcasam.

Taken a look at the ijury report recently, about half of the predicted starters are out.

Rolle, Hayes, Berry, Dansby, Davis [and his backup Kenny King].

Or maybe he has finnaly grown up and started working at his profession. While he was here Jake was erratic to say the least.

Was it all his fault no, but a lot of it was. IMO DG could probably have whipped him into shape, Mac was never going to.

I guess it's easy to blame the Cardinals for Jake's problems

Jakes' and the Cardinals' problems were inseperable. I tend not to lay too much blame on either side. Fact remains, that Jake in the Denver system is just about everything you need out of a starting QB. I won't be surprised if Josh finds similar success at some point.

I disagree with this.

I think he always had the talent, but McGinnis kept trying to make him a pocket passer, which he is not.

A strong running game supports his ability to roll out and cause problems for defenses that have to respect the run. He has always been a good roll-out passer, but the Cards did not use him that much in that way and didn't have a running game to make it effective.

There you go agian Ian.

This Defense was terrible with Berry, Dansby, Davis, and Rolle all healthy. Saying they would be good if thery didnt get hurt is just wishful thinking.

All hate aside, I'm happy for Jake. He's still my man, and gave me some of my best moments ever as a fan.

Davis went on IR before the season iirc and was obviously underappreciated as a NT. Rolle didn't las t long either. hayes was also out before we started.

Apart from that I agree with you to some degree but it's real tough to tell as with key players out from the get go

:biglaugh: "DAMM", he use to throw three in a row! I have always said some how some way we should have kept him. I cannot stand the Broncos, but I will always root for "JAKE". :notworthy

Russell made it to game three before being hurt. And he was underappreciated at NT.

The Fox Sports NFL preview show was talking about Jake and posted a stat showing that he is now "in the black" in terms of td's to int's. I'm pretty sure he's at 145 and 144. It's always good to have more td's than int's.

And yet when he threw 20 picks last year. He is a streaky and inconsistant QB.

I have no great love or hate of Plummer. But I still don't understand why people keep talking about him. He has been gone for about three years now.

That is better than who the Sporting News considers the Cardinals best all time QB, Jim Hart. Hart threw more picks than TDs. Lomax had more TD than Ints. I have to pick Lomax over Hart for best Cardinal QB I saw.
