No he was traded for a conditional pick, the conditons were if he retires TB gives up nothing. If not they have his rights and give up a pick in 08 don't remember the round.

Supposedly Denver gets their 7th round pick even if he retires, if he plays they get the 4th that it was originally supposed to be before Jake said he was going to retire.

The Bucs will probably work a deal.

I'm sure they will. If Jake really wanted to retire, I'd respect that. But if he is bluffing like is the claim, he'll be looked at as a total bitch by Broncos fans. I'd almost like to see Tampa trade him to Houston, since the Texans are coming to town next year.

No foolin' on this one. I was on my way back from a meeting, turned on ESPN on the radio..Dan Patrick..and he quoted someone as saying that Plummer is seriously considering joining the Peace Corps. As we know he and Pat Tillman were very close friends..blah blah blalh. Just because Partrick said it does not make it the gospel. Nah, I don't believe it. I think he is on his was to Houston.

He's always looked like a bitch to this Bronco fan. Typical Jake Plummer misbehavior...

You know I nearly posted the other day I bet it might have something to do with pat.

Ever since Pat was killed Jake has completely changed his outlook on life and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he really does want to retire because of it. It's pretty easy to speculate he's trying to force a trade or something but he may in fact be retiring because his heart's not in it anymore?

Who knows. Like I said local paper said the Bucs were going to deal him to the Raiders and that's why he retired, but everyone is guessing, only Jake really knows.

If the choice is between retirement and the Raiders, I would rather set myself on fire and put it out with a chain than play for the Raiders. ;)

Rumor is Jake was just seen at the local Home Depot purchasing some fireplace matches, lighter fluid and some chain...stay tuned! I am sure PFT will have the scoop on this real soon!

ESPN says he's been telling his mom he wants to join the peace corps, apparently he does want to retire according to ESPN radio.

I know it sounds stupid, don't shoot the messenger I just heard it this morning.

The latest on Plummer is that he wants to retire, but since he owes about $5 mil to the Broncos if he retires he is trying to negotiate a lower number to pay back ...

Stay tuned ...

Such pettiness - why not just take him at his word and wish him well?

I saw Jake Plummer announce his retirement last night on my tv. He looked high or something. His eyes were glassy and red. Does anybody else think he looked like he was on something?

For the record, I like Jake Plummer and wish him the best. He got us to the playoffs and for that I will always be thankful. Good Luck Jake in life.

I agree Jetstream. Even after distancing myself from him after he left, I still wish him well. He IS a formal Card, and gave me some of my most exciting moments ever as a fan. Cheers Shaky Jake!

Yep I am right there too on Jake Plummer. He just had that will that the Cards were gonna somehow win the game even if it meant that he was gonna have to carry 'em on his back to victory. Yeah he did throw too many interceptions but I forgive him for it!:)

Plummer may pay $7 million

March 16

Rocky Mountain News columnist Jeff Legwold: "However, the Broncos and
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hoping the lure of a $5.3 million salary for 2007 and the threat of a roughly $7 million payback will lure Plummer back to the league. Good luck, fellas. "

PLUMMER'S OPTIONS NARROW

Another consequence of the trade that sent Matt Schaub to the Texans is that Jake Plummer most likely won't land there in 2007.

There previously was a strong belief in league circles that Plummer wanted to jump to the Texans, where he would have been reunited with former Broncos offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, who now runs the show in Houston.

Currently, Plummer's choices appear to be playing for the Buccaneers, hoping for a trade to the Raiders, or following through on his plan to retire.

As to the first option, our friends at PewterReport.com report that two of Plummer's former teammates have been trying to talk him into becoming a pirate (without having to wear a puffy shirt), but that Plummer won't return their calls.
"
I tried to talk to Jake," said Bucs running back Michael Pittman, who like Plummer is a former Arizona Cardinal. "Coach Gruden asked me if I'd give him a call, and we were on the same page because I was going to ask Coach Gruden to let me try and call him. I tried to call Jake a couple of times, but he didn’t return any of my phone calls." (Maybe Pittman should simply repeatedly ram his car into Jake's Honda Element.)

Another former Plummer teammate in Arizona, Simeon Rice, likewise whiffed in his efforts to reach Jake. "Simeon called me up and asked me what was going on with Jake," said Pittman. "I told him that I tried to call him, so I gave Sim the number to see if he could get in touch with Jake, but he didn’t return any of Simeon's phone calls, either.

"I think Jake is probably weighing his options right now," Pittman added. "I really think Jake knows for a fact that he still has the game in his blood and that he’s not ready to retire. I just don’t think he’s thinking rationally right now."

If Plummer retires, the Bucs will be able to pursue at least $3 million and as much as $7 million in signing bonus money that the Broncos previously paid to him.

These guys are morons, Jake just had a presser last week saying he is done with the game. He said it was time to enjoy life and pursue other interests like playing Handball.
