And players who think that tape measure jobs include how high you can hit the ball.

A sky-high popup twenty feet from home plate is still only twenty feet from home plate.

Reminds me of Alex Cintron. Pop-out king.

I'm not trying to be a smartass.. But do you really believe this? I think we got worse.. But admittly, baseball is the sport I am not always up to speed on.. A lot of players to keep track of.. After football and basketball, hard for me to cram more in my brain.. I try though.. Love watching baseball..

We're better than last year. And maybe, if our pitching holds up, we will show that we are significantly better than last season.

Getting rid of Upton and Young will prove to be HUGE moves. Prado will be our 3rd baseman for a long time to come now. DiDi will prove to be a better than average hitter and a gold glove shortstop. We locked up Montero, Hill and Goldy in long-term deals.
We have high-energy/max-effort guys all over the lineup, UNLIKE what we had last season.

This team is capable of winning 88-92 games this year. Of course, if they only win 82 I can't say I would be shocked. Kubel is still a question mark for me, simply because of his inconsistency and health issues. CF remains a bit of a ? as well, even though I really like Parra and Pollack (We don't know when Eaton will be back and how he'll play once he returns). And shortstop is a bit of a hole with Willie on the DL and DiDi down in the minors...
However, if these issues don't become massive problems, I can easily see this team putting up 88-82 wins and seriously contending for a wild card...

FWIW- He was sitting on the bench last night. I'm excited to see him play, because that Pennington guy does nothing for me.

Do y' know who I think was the worst in D'backs history? Great fielder, good runner, likable guy. Could carry the team for a week when he got hot.

But more often than not, Steve Finley's typical pose was standing at home plate, looking straight up in the air after he swung the bat, following the flight of his popup.

I used to shout at the TV, "Fins, why you just try to hit line drives and, when you get a fat one, try to give it a ride."

If he were on the 2012 D'backs, he'd have gone the way of Upton, Young, Reynolds, etc. Of course, he be 48 years old now. :)

I think they win 90+ and make the playoffs somehow but I find it hard to imagine them winning in the post season with no real ace.
He's averaged 15 wins each of the past two seasons. If his hard work so far this year pans out, Kennedy could even raise that average.

Just because he looks like Odie doesn't mean he can't be the good pitcher among good pitchers to start every fifth day.

We know he has it in him. This is not hoping that he can do something he's never done before. With, hopefully, a stronger starting staff behind him. And certainly, an ultra-strong closing trio down in the 'pen.

But for whatever reason it's impossible not to love Steve Finley. One of my all time favorites.

Now that were talking about old players.. What ever happen to junior spivey?

According to Wikipedia, Spivey is now 38 and retired from knocking around baseball in 2010. He played for the D'backs, Brewers and Washington and had his last Major League game in '05.

According to Linkedin, he is now in Health/Fitness, Strength/Conditioning, Sports Nutrition, Web Design Consultant, Entrepreneur and is in the Phoenix area. Maybe you'll run into him.
