Ha! That's more of a mulligan than a remake, right?

I liked the original. It was early 90's cheesy action but it was a cool story and had some bitchin stunts.

Perhaps they'll get a woman who is

A. (even moderately) attractive
B. Not the worst actress EVER (I mean I know she was going opposite of Keanu, but even he was like; "damn this girl cant act.")

to play the "Hot surfer girl and Main characters love interest."

Seriously, I'm sure Lori Petty is a delightful person, but she was a terrible actress and wasn't even remotely hot. Always a head scratcher for me. If you need more proof, watch Tank Girl.

I too enjoyed the original! (I can't believe I'm saying that...original...ugh!)

Lori Petty always struck me as a poor-man's version of Meg Ryan, at least her pre-League of Their Own era films.

I totally agree. Not that I care about hot surfer girls but she was NOT a hot surfer girl. No. Terrible. At times laughable.

That's what makes the movie great.

"I'm so hungry I could eat the a$$ out of a dead rhino"

"Utah! Get me two!"

Fair warning, 1 bad word. **** happens :)

Gerard Butler Drops Out of 'Point Break' Remake

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/gerard-butler-drops-point-break-701703

Gerard Butler has dropped out of Point Break, Alcon’s remake of the early 1990s classic action movie.

Butler was to have played the Zen-infused thief originally played by Patrick Swayze, opposite Luke Bracey, who is playing hotshot FBI agent Johnny Utah, originally played by Keanu Reeves.

Sources say that the parting of ways occurred because of a confluence of factors. There have been creative differences and a scheduling conflict: Point Break will start shooting in late June, lasting several months, and will take its actors to international locales. But Butler also has on his docket London Has Fallen, the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen, which shoots in the fall in London.

How can anybody not love that movie the acting is spectacular.

Instead of a remake we need a sequel where we find out Swayze's character survived the 100 year storm and is now a bartender at some resort with the cast of Cocktail.

I'll watch it if they can get Patrick Swayze to do a cameo otherwise I'll pass. It was a bad but fun movie, those should never be re-made.

Then you ain't watching it because Swayze went to that big Roadhouse in the sky about 5 years ago.

I knew he died but that was several years ago, I didn't know he was still dead. He must be doing something wrong. Anyway, I'm not watching the Police Academy reboot either unless they can get Bubba Smith to do a cameo too.

Its hard to believe this is being made. If the original move had been made with big budget special effects, competent acting and a coherent plot then no one would remember it now.

As brilliant as Swayze was in that movie I think a lack of Busey will hurt the charm of the film more. Swayze was a great fit but replaceable, Busey was chewing the scenery, then yacking it back up along with some vodka and a half digested chili-dog... it may have been his finest work, outside of his unappreciated hit "Bulletproof".

"Ha! The only law that matters is gravity..." lol Atleast they are carrying on the bad acting tradition, which I respect. :p

the only thing I liked about that awful trailer was the brief moment of fan service having one of the original dead presidents in that government hearing.

agree on the haters. Call me crazy, but Keanu's wooden performance aside, that was a GREAT action movie.
