agree on the haters. Call me crazy, but Keanu's wooden performance aside, that was a GREAT action movie.

I agree! But I maintain my position that Lori Petty is not hot :p. Haha jk.

agree there also.

another reason the movie is great is that it spawned the GREATEST stage show EVER in LA called Point Break Live. I can't even begin to describe it, but the nuts and bolts of it is that the entire cast are set/regulars every week... except for the Keanu role, who a complete random from the audience plucked from each crowd, under the auspices that ANYONE, even someone with no acting experience whatsoever, could do his role just as good as he could. if you're ever in LA and looking for a ridiculous quintissential LA experience, it's a MUST see.

As much as I hate remakes, we are going to see this today.

Before The Force Awakens, they showed some behind-the-scenes footage including some stunt work. Looks visually appealing at least.

This film should never have been made. It was visually appealing and somewhat entertaining, but it just didn't work (as a remake), IMHO.

The original film is a cult classic. There are many reasons why it should not have been remade. Mostly, you are not going to be able to reproduce what the first one had. Just not possible.

In the end, it was not Point Break - except for characters being named the same and a few choice scenes from the original which felt entirely out of place in this film. The filmmakers should have made an original film and called it "The Path" or "The Ozaki Eight." My wife's observation was that the filmmakers let their philosophy get too muddled. There were eight ordeals, but there were not a clear eight offerings (at least we were not shown them). This was a huge element missing from the film.
