i'd like to see what Ayton and Holmes can do on the floor together before i make a significant move for a big man
Holmes is a legit starter and fills in Ayton's weaknesses
and Ayton is the outside threat that Holmes isn't
i don't care whether you call either a center or power forward
let them play to their strengths

it's ridiculous that we haven't seen them on the floor together all season
and that's another reason i'd like to see what our players can do under a good coach before i trade somebody with potential

Holmes isn't a hopeless case as an outside shooter either. He actually shot 1.4 threes a game in his second year in the league and hit 35%. I'm not saying it's a strength, but you'd think the Suns would at least see what they had in playing him with Ayton. What's the harm? We start going on losing streaks or getting blown out?

I don't know why they report the length of head coaching contracts anymore. Almost no one lasts that long. Instead of saying that the contract is for "$18 million over three years," they just should just say it's for $18 million. The "three years" part is meaningless.

None.. those are their career coaching records. The question to ask is has there been any HC’s to have terrible starts to their HC career, ala Koko, only to turn it around and flourish?

Just for kicks, I figured I would look at the first years of some of the better coaches currently in the league:

Steve Kerr: 67-15
Billy Donovan: 55-27
Rick Carlisle: 50-32
Erik Spoelstra: 43-39
Doc Rivers: 41-41
Quin Snyder: 38-44
Mike Budenholzer: 38-44
Mike Malone: 28-54
Brad Stevens: 25-57
Greg Popovich: 17-47

Popovich, of course, decided to take over a tough situation and turned in arguably the greatest tank in NBA history. He added Duncan to a healthy Admiral the next year and won 56 games. The team was 3-15 when he fired Bob Hill and made himself coach.

Mike D'Antoni had a bad first season with the Nuggets (14-36) and with the Suns (21-40) and the Knicks (32-50).

So...I'd say a bad start is not a disqualifier for being a good coach. Of course, it depends on how you quantify "terrible". I'd say Igor's start is more "terrible" than any of these guys.

Brian Winters lasted the longest of the group because he was the first coach for the expansion Vancouver franchise.

Roy Rubin (4-47) missed the list because he coached a few less games than Igor.

BTW - Fitch's 1970 Cleveland expansion team started out 0-15 and was 1-27 after 28 games. Would any coach survive that sort of start now?

I was guessing the suns would win at least 7 more games. I didn't notice some of those records were not a full season.

Igor is so bad he has destroyed my ability to understand plain English....

Three of them did (Fitch's came with Boston), but it helps to get a Larry Bird (Fitch), Tim Duncan and David Robinson (Popovich) or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Costello).

lucky? most coaches don't care and don't want their teams to win?
