Holt > Francisco

Are you kidding me? Aaron Francisco can actually make a tackle in the open field and is definitely a more physical presence than Holt. In addition, Francisco is a solid contributor on special teams. I'll grant that he's a liability in pass defense, but no more so than Holt who couldn't cover anyone.

Can you honestly say after last season that Terrence Holt belongs on an NFL roster? I still have visions of the guy making love to the football after his one fumble recovery, instead of getting up and trying to run, despite two Cardinals trying to drag him to his feet to do so.

I think the point is: if Holt won the starting job over Francisco, what does that say about Francisco? I agree with cardsfanmd, I wouldn't give him a B-.

I voted a C just because of depth issues. I feel Hood is a legit #1 corner, and Green has some skills as well, but the others don't really deserve to be on an NFL team. If we get at least 1 more solid corner and actually develop a pass rush, our secondary will be in good shape.

That's what I think, as well. I gave the team a "C" in the cornerback group. As starters, they're not any worse off than 16 other teams in the league. As backups, they're old and talent-poor.

Some of this gets mitigated on-the-field because the Cards use a safety as their nickel back. That eases the pain of Ralph Brown being high on the depth chart.

But add a high pick (1st or 2nd round) and another developmental player (4th or 5th round) from the draft, and I think this group gets closer to B- territory.

It says the coaching staff way over-rated Holt for whatever reason. I wouldn't give Francisco a B- as a safety either, but he's certainly no "F" which is what Holt deserved. Other than staying healthy, Holt didn't bring a thing to the team.

I have NEVER said anything positive about Holt. IMO he was the worst first week starting player in the NFL last year.

I think due to his hardworking mentality, special teams play and being an overall good guy, people give Francisco WWAAAAAYYY too much credit on this board.

Finish this:
Francisco = B-
Holt > Francisco
Holt = ?

For all the love he gets here, keep in mind that he was beat out for the starting job by Holt last year. No way IMO is a good backup a B-. No way... If he was a B-, we would have never pursued a starting safety (no that Holt is deserving of such duties) in FA last year.
I am giving Francisco the B - using BACKUP CRITERIA...

Our defense sucked last year, the whole squad deserves a D.

The only bright spot was A. Rolle, and he didn't even start at the beginning of the season. A big D from blackie

I went with a "C" grade, we're average at best. I would think that we are middle of the road because a CB is such a "need" pick for us this year.
