Judging by your comments on this forum, the only movie I think you'd really love from your list is Snatch. It took me a long time before I was willing to give it a try and now it's one of my favorites.

What amazes me about your 'off the top of my head' list is that you know the names of a ton of movies you haven't seen - well, that and the fact that I've seen all but a few of them. And I'm not a movie buff. Off the top of my head I doubt if I could name ten movies I haven't seen, and their number is legion.

From your list I haven't seen:
Hook
Meet the Fockers?
Sin City?
Hannibal
Seven
American History X

All of the Harry Potter movies but 1
All the Star Wars but 2 - I've tried to watch more but it always turns out to be one of the two I've already seen.
Any currently running movie except 'The man who knows infinity'

I personally know a lot of the movies I haven't seen because they have been recommended so many times over the years or seen them on here...

Me too, plus I'm a sucker for lists. I've read so many top 10, top 100, 1000 movie lists through the years that I could probably rattle off a thousand movies I haven't seen with very little effort.

Star Wars 1 through 3.

Blair Witch Project.

Actually, any horror movie made in the last 25 years that would be considered popular. Don't care for the genre.

I know some don't like Avatar, but it is the most technologically advanced movie ever made (to this point) and a visually stunning master piece. Sure the story isn't new, but the execution is second to none.

Jump to 12:15 if the video doesn't.

Shrek is one of those movies best watched with your 8 year old but I really can't think of a reason to watch it if you don't have a kid with you. I can't think of a reason good enough to sit through any of the Shrek sequels, however many there are. Most adults can only take so many fart gags (and such).

As for Harry, I'm sure you've talked about them before but I forget, what's your reasons for not watching them?

They needed a different name for the material they were mining. Unobtainium sounds terrible. You can't obtain it so let's call it unobtainium. Stupid imo.

I know what you mean but it's actually been around for many decades prior to Avatar and has a solid footing in both technology and the world of science fiction. In fact, if you watched the movie The Core, it's what was used on their drilling ship.

Alot of these are surprising just because many of them are shown on TV relentlessly. Its almost impossible to have not accidentally seen one by now.

"Classic" Movies I have yet to see:

Marty
Citizen Kane have always wanted to see this but have never been able to find it.
The Godfather, any of them. Sorry, they just do nothing for me!
Raging Bull
Taxi Driver
The Exorcist
American Graffiti
The English Patient
Bonnie and Clyde
Lawrence of Arabia

I want to see a few of these badly. But others like the English Patient and the Godfather, I have zero interest.

Re: The Godfather. I had a friend who was so OUTRAGED once that I hadn't seen those movies that he was like dude, we're having an Italian party, we'll invite everyone over, drink wine, break some laws, ya know, like wise guys! So everyone goes over and we had a fun party but I was so bored to tears by the first one that I fell asleep atleast 10 times and I bailed before it even ended. Pretty sure my friend never talked to me again lol.

I apologize to those who are big fans, not saying it sucks or is a bad movie, it's just not for me. I have liked some long boring movies that others hated passionately. To each their own!

Re: The Godfather. I had a friend who was so OUTRAGED once that I hadn't seen those movies

The first two Godfather movies are among my all time favorites. I have a group of friends that keep insisting that because of my appreciation for those movies that I'd also love Goodfellas. I've been forced to watch it several times now and I still can't stand the movie. I've really wanted to like it but I just didn't. My friends all think I was being closed-minded but I've even tried to watch it on my own and the result is always the same for me. So...Different strokes, different folks.

Just never got into them. It passed us by and we just never cared to get into it - especially once it became tremendously popular.

I'll probably read the books and watch the films someday, unlike my in-laws who swear the books and movies are "of the devil."

I've always thought the books were a little overrated. And I had a tendency to react to all the nonsense about how original the series was. I've read a lot of science fiction and fantasy through the years and other than the lame "quidditch" game, I saw elements of her world in so many other works. I didn't have a problem with that, just the idea that she had created something whole cloth.

Anyway, I like the movies far more than I did the books. But individually, I didn't think any of the movies were all that special. I felt the same way about the Lord of the Rings movies. But both series of movies gain something when they are viewed as an entire project. And in that regard, I'd highly recommend the Potter movies.

But if you're going to just watch one HP movie and then decide whether it's worth it to continue, you're probably better off skipping them entirely. I really can't see any adult falling in love with the first HP movie, the best you can probably expect is an "it was okay but nothing special". And, by the same token, I can't see anyone that loves movies and appreciates fantasy not enjoying the series as a whole, if they actually watch the entire series.

As a huge fan of both the movies AND the books, if you get to the 3rd movie, you'll be hooked.
