Be nice to get something out of him this year. Maybe with him knowing the system and not using him every down will get him in the right position to make plays.

Very smart, (and I might add, classy), move by Joey at this stage of his career. He will earn this year's salary, and will probably also contribute by using his knowlege of the system to help position players on the field with him on pre-snap reads. This shows the continuation of players buying into the TEAM, concept instead of the ME concept. Just one more seemingly little thing that appears to be insignificant, but these little things add up to become something much more valuable when put together. There was a time in his career where he would not have considered such an approach to a season.

Porter could have refused to restructure and took a chance that he could land with another team. But he never considered it, he said.

“I feel comfortable with defense we’re going to run this year. I like everything we’re going to do,” Porter said. “This is the first defense I started in when I first came to Pittsburgh. I know everything about it. I feel good about this team. I feel good about what we can possibly do this year.”

Probably the reason why DRC became expendable?

After the pitiful showing last year he had very few options. Nothing to get excited about in my opinion. The less he plays the better.

Good "business" decision by Porter, but, not a hard one to figure out.

Take the cut or get cut!

I think he'll bounce back this year. I like that Horton is our DC now. I am really hoping for good things.
