In a van...down by the river.
The offense also stagnates when Nash has been forced to make a play late.
Either make Amare that guy or go get a 2 guard that can make a play when we need a bucket.
G. Hill had some of that ability but limped into the playoffs.

I think we can agree that LB is a smaller SG.
I believe Barbosa's only value would be on a team with a taller Point Guard.

Then on defense, he would guard the opposing '2' Guard, with Leandro on the Point Guard.

Leandro would best be used as instant offense in short spurts.

He is not a complete player. He is a novelty. And our novelty Coach is gone. Thankfully.

I mostly agree, although I think it was Barbosa that was most effected by the Spur's defensive scheme. Typically Barbosa can get by his defender, but faced a packed paint when he tried to get to the basket. Leadnro averaged only 10.4 ppg on 34.5% from the field and 22.2% for three. (His regular season stats were 15.6 ppg, 46.2% shooting and 38.9% for three.

Thi reality is that the Suns during the regular season did not shoot nearly as many threes as in past years.

2004-05 795 of 2026
2005-06 827 of 2097
2006-07 793 of 1965
2007-08 694 of 1764

Oddly enough, they did not have as big an impact on their offense as might be expected. In 2006-07 the Suns averaged 110.2 ppg and in 2007-08 they averaged 110.1 ppg. Still the Suns offense averaged 10 fewer ppg against the Spurs than during the regular season and poor three point shooting contributed.

The in 2006-07 the Suns shot 41.6% for three (37 of 89) while in 2007-08 the Suns shot 33.8% for three (25 of 74).

The suns didnt shoot as many threes because they didnt have the shooters. You play with what you have. Amare was stifled in the 4th quarter int he spurs sereis because of poor spacing, and that results when you cant stretch the defense or hurt them when they collapse into the lane. Amare is a "face the basket player" who needs the space to operate either in a one on one or in the pick and roll. And nash is a PG who excells in that pick and roll that is practically useless when the lane is packed. It will expecially be a problem when playing the best defenses, eg in the playoffs. The regular season is just another game entirely. Its sad that the suns management went away from common sense basketball when they reshaped the team. Even amare stoudemire, the best offensive weapon in the frontcourt in the NBA, cant deal with a packed lane of floppers when trying to finish. I wonder what the inside discussions sounded like, and who was to blame for this screwup. I have a feeling it wasnt DA who screwed up the spacing of the suns offense.

James Jones was the other shooter the Suns needed to spread the floor and KT was a capable center (who had a good midrange shot) with a nice expiring contract. If only the Suns were willing to pay the LT for one season. I also miss those two first round picks as well.:bang:
