While you don't count on teams falling back to the pack, when it happens, it happens. And it is happening to both the Whiners and Seahags. There is a talent drain due to FA and injuries for both teams. Check their roster turnover yourself if you don't believe it.

In addition, you are way more positive about Lattimore and other injured players signed by the Whiners than even some of the Whiner writers:

We don't need a quantum leap. We need to stay healthy. We meet or exceed our Division rivals in a number of positions and that will be the basis for the Cards competing this year for a playoff spot. Pass the Kool-Aid pitcher.

Do you even read the links that you're posting? There's nothing there that says that these guys are bad, or even struggling. Just that people will be watching these guys in camp.

Again, you can say that the 49ers and Seahawks are falling back to the pack, and you can want that to happen, but wishing doesn't make it so. The proof will be in the pudding, as they say, and nothings even been baked yet.

I never said that the redshirt players were bad or struggling. Would you please read my post and not put your own spin on it. You made the statement that the 49ers were getting a 'ton of help' from these guys. I said that there was some question there even by writers covering the 49ers. How about providing a link that supports your statement that the 49ers are getting a 'ton of help.' Do you have any support or is your statement just another bit of fantasy in your own mind that you want to post as the truth of the situation. I read my links. Wish you would do the same. Also wish you would post some support when you make your assertions--- maybe it will keep you from living in fantasy land.

Here's your statement that I was responding to with my link: "Particularly when it comes to the San Francisco 49ers, who are getting a ton of help from their 2013 draft class of redshirted prospects like Marcus Lattimore and Corey Lemonier."

Here's the comments in the link in question: " Until we see them in action, we don't know how succesful this strategy will have been. And of course, we also have to wait until next year to see what the 49ers get out of this year's class. At some point, there will be statistical analysis and discussion of the success of this strategy. Unfortunately, it could be a long time before we can make any particularly useful conclusions. It's such a small sample size, leaving most of our conclusions over the next couple years as qualititative in nature. That won't stop us from making conclusions, of course. The 49ers have access to some of the best doctors in the world, so I can understand their confidence in using this kind of strategy. Now we'll just wait and see if their confidence is justified." That doesn't sound like they are currently gettng a 'ton of help.'

Both the Whiners and the Seahags have lost players via FA and injuries. Look it up. It ain't wishful thinking.

on the one hand, I find it funny that the K9 says the Niners are going to get help from their redshirt draft class, while not acknowledging that the Cardinals are going to get help from our redshirt 2013 draft with Cooper, Minter and Okafor being brought into the fold healthy/ready to contribute.

On the other hand, I find it funny that people keep saying that the Whiner and Seahags have lost players via FA/Injuries when we face the EXACT same scenario with Dansby, Washington and HB. I mean, the Seahawks lost some depth and that will hurt them a bit, but we lost two of the best LBers in football last year and have a guy coming off a terrible knee injury. And as good as our D was last year, it still wasn't at the consistent level of the Niners/Seahawks. So while those two teams might come back down to the pack, so will we and they're coming down from a higher spot then us.

The only way we really stay competitive with those guys is if the O makes major strides forward. and we've put a lot of pieces together on offense to try and make that happen. we'll see if it works.

Exactly. We lost 2 HUGE pieces of what made us 10-6 & they both lost guys who are role players or not huge difference makers & easier to replace! The biggest loss of either team was Golden Tate & he will be replaced by Harvin who could be better if he can stay on the field.

But you need to keep in mind, in a 3-4, without the front 3, the linebackers don't shine. And I'd put our front 3 up against any. I don't think the dropoff will be as sharp

And as far as the concern at S I've been seeing... Mathieu still has a lot of time to get back on the field. But I thought Johnson was our most underrated player last year. He played fantastic IMO. Not to mention, as great as he is, and I love the kid, Mathieu wasn't even on the field in what I believe was our most complete game defensively. That win in SEA. The only win in SEA over a 2 year span

Here are the 'role players' and people who are not 'difference makers' lost or injured by the Whiners:

LB N.Bowman ACL/MCL
3 of their 4 starting DBs from last year
Aldon Smith---facing possible suspension for a series of incidents
Starting C Goodwin (past 3 years) resigned with his old team the Saints
Davis refusing to come into OTA-wants more money (wait until he sees Kaps paycheck)
DE Carradine recovering from knee injury
RB Lattimore--still unable to participate fully in OTA
C.J. Spillman DB-hand injury, questionable to make training camp
Starting NT Williams still recovering from broken ankle last year mid-Sept
FB Bruce Miller-in IR in mid-December with shoulder

Much of that is accurate but we'll see on Vernon Davis. He was on ESPN this morning and very clearly stated his competitive nature will not allow him to NOT show up for OTA's. His agent may have floated that but he says he has every intention of being there.

I was actually surprised I have never liked the guy but he actually came off really well in the interview and he was there in person not somewhere else where he could refer to notes.
