I am sure there will be plenty of posts between now and the start of the season that will go over, and analyze the team.

Thus for this final preseason game, I will list the 53 players that will be on the Cardinals roster after the roster cut down to 53. That being said, I do not think this will be the "Final 53", since there are some positions that can potentially be improved by finding talent that will be cut somewhere else, linebacker comes to mind.

On to the regular season. I think this team will be solid, but as we all know, most games in the NFL are won or lost on 2 or 3 plays during the game. A bad just against the run with the front seven, or a critical dropped pass by the wide receivers may plague this team during the year. Yet, where there is weakness there is also strength in places like the secondary, and the run game.

After all that change in the offseason, I think 8-8 would be a successful season for the 1 year of this regime. One who hope this is a foundation for future success and Super Bowl dreams.

The players in bold, I would say have a good chance of getting replaced within the first two weeks of the season.

1- Sam Bradford, QB
2- Josh Rosen, QB
3- Mike Glennon, QB

4- David Johnson, RB
5- Chase Edmunds, RB

20- Mike Iupati, OG
21- Justin Pugh, OG
22- Daniel Munyer, OG

23- Mason Cole, OC
24- Evan Boehm, OC

25- Corey Peters, DT
26- Olson Pierre, DT
27- Robert Nkimsoftee, DT
28- Rodney Gunter, DT

29- Chandler Jones, DE

Decent list.

One of the rookie WRs could make the cut.

If not look for us to pick one up off the waiver wire.

I kinda hope Capi makes the team and definitely not Little. Holden should be a backup.

For comparisons sake, and for discussion. I used to love to compare the two lists when he was on the board, so I will do it again, here.

QB - I do not see what Chad Kanoff did, outside of one game, that makes him a better fit for this roster than Mike Glennon. Yes, Glennon is without a doubt a poor QB, but its not like the money is needed to get him off the books. Sam Bradford's injury history is enough to keep Glennon around.

TE/FB - Gabe Holmes and Derrick Coleman both played well. Not sure what the problem that is being seen here is. Penny did make good blocks....against 2nd and 3rds team guys tho. Penny sticks because of his versatility.

WR - Trent Sherfield, or Greg Little.....does it really matter ? Both could be out on the street mattering on who is cut around the league. Even Brice Butler's spot is not a lock, IMO.

OL - Trade or release Andre Smith, that is simply not going to happen. Again, I question his watching of who is blocking whom out there, but he does look over the tape, I just do not see it happening. Korey Cunningham is not making the squad and neither is Will Holden. I will stick by my eight offensive linemen. I think Allen and Cunningham make it to the practice squad, maybe even Will Holden. We will see. I could see the quartet of Holden, Boehm, Munyer, and Allen all fighting for two spots.

DL - This is more or less the wide receiver debate. Pasoni Tasini was playing with the starters last game, not saying he is a lock, but I think if they keep one of the two pacific islanders it would be the one that was practicing with the starting team. There is a chance neither make it once other teams start cutting players.

DE - Cap Capi is a great story, and hopefully he ends up on the Jets or Giants, but he is not going to be playing AZ.

K - I would not be surprised if the rookie gets a shot.

I get the idea of saving cap money, but some of the moves are counter productive. There is absolutely NO reason to trade/release Andre Smith at this point and time. His salary is comparable to his skill level. FYI, the talk out of Denver is Veldheer is still struggling at RT, and when Bobbie Massie is one of the better RT in the league, then Andre Smith is a solid starter to have on your line, you could do worse, and pay more, than Andre Smith.

With our OL injury history no way we don’t go with at least 9. I think Will Holden makes it. I know he’s been less than ideal at LT with the second team but he has RT potential.

I agree with keeping 9 OL!

My locks are: Hump, Iupati, Cole, Pugh, Smith, then:

Wetzel - Swing OT/OG/TE 1st sub
Boehm - Swing OC/OG
Allen / Munyer - OG/OC
Cunningham/Holden - OT/TE

IMO, it’s either Holden or Cunningham; not both. New coaching staff didn’t draft Holden, so probably not married to him. And both are PS eligible.

I like the list, but:

Capi over Scooby.

Anything can happen at WR

Ditto TE.

When in doubt, favor the dude who makes the most plays.

Capi isn't making the squad imo. Can't hold up against the run is my reasoning. Good story and man gives everything he's got on every play but his size is a detriment. Should go play in the CFL, he would be dynamic.

Edit: I just wanted to add unless he is a place holder for Golden until he gets back.
