With the first week of NFL free agency in the books, we can now look at how the NFL draft might play out differently. The Arizona Cardinals have filled several holes on offense and defense, and now it feels like they could go a lot of different directions with their top picks in the draft.
In a new post-free agency mock draft from Draft Wire's Curt Popejoy, he has a bit of a surprise pick for the Cardinals with the 16th pick.
While most project a defensive lineman, an edge defender or even an offensive lineman for the Cardinals, he has them going with a first-round receiver for the second consecutive, year selecting Texas receiver Matthew Golden.
Golden is a balance of great route-running and incredible speed, posting a 4.29-second 40 time at the combine. What he is good at is a great match for what the Cardinals need at receiver. They have a great tight end in Trey McBride. Marvin Harrison Jr. should take a leap into greatness and big production in 2025. After him, they have nothing proven.
Their group of receivers includes Michael Wilson, Zay Jones, Greg Dortch and Simi Fehoko. Only Jones has surpassed 600 yards in a season and he only had eight catches for the Cardinals last season.
Golden would be a great addition. A better addition than guard Tyler Booker or defensive lineman Derrick Harmon, both of whom were still available?
That is what you get to debate about on social media.

The Cardinals are building a nice wide receiver depth chart and Golden gives them a guy who can pull the top off of a defense.
