All this "darksider" crap makes me want to puke even more than watching the team right now.

I'm with you Shane. I'm pissed about what I saw on the field yesterday, but I will remain a Card fan. I am NOT some juvenile little schoolboy who has to define his self worth by the need to identify with some social "gang".

My hope would be that Mac "sees the light" or "the writing on the wall" and makes some changes. I still think he could be a great head coach....given the right assistants. I do think there are some good ones on the team, but there are also a few "weeds" that need pulling.

I think the best 2 examples of what is so wrong with this team right now is:
!. Continuing to send Renaldo Hill out there. The combination of his lack of physical talent coupled with the defensive scheming is killing this team. I feel sorry for Hill, I really do. I think he gives it his best effort, but he is just over matched physically and further handcuffed by what "the team" seems expects him to be able to do.
Like Barrett, I think he would be OK as a nickel or backup, but he should not be starting game after game.
I shudder to think of what the Rams are going to do to this team next week. Talk about ugly.
The buck stops here at Marmie first for being the one responsible for this....and then Mac for allowing it to happen on a continuing basis.
This defense is the classic example of " how can you expect different results when you keep repeating the same behavior."

2. The offense seems to he a headless horseman. A total joke.
The Sullivan experiment didn't work. I hold nothing against Jerry Sullivan for that, nor Mac. I will even give both credit for somewhat admitting it...but an F in corrective action
....again the seeming flagship of this coaching regime.
..."blame" again -------------> Mac.

Mac does generally seem to be a good delegator, but you can't keep sending a boy to do a man's job, or like so many ******** politicians...overlooking personnel weakness out of personal "loyalty".

It is also true, that you don't throw away the old razor blade UNTIL you actually have a new one to replace it. Right now, it certainly not the best time in the world to go fishing for new coaches. You can't tamper, few coaches would jump ship now anyway, even if a position on the present Cards staff were a popular alternative....which would be highly questionable now, to say the least. That doesn't leave much of a pool to "work" with.

Both Mac and Marmie need to develop some cahones.
Someone has to be found that has at least some semblance af a clue of how to run this offense.

Maybe making Emmitt the OC now isn't such a bad idea after all.
It would also solve some of the dilemma regarding him and Shipp.
It sure couldn't be any worse than the joke now being perpetrated on everyone.

Tango, I agree with alot of your posts on this thread. One thing that is very murky is who EXACTLY is responsible for the defensive mess. I think we can only speculate but IMO, I believe Mac is laying out the scheme and philosophy and Marmie is being "forced" to play within that scheme/philosophy. The defense here with the Cards is similar to the defense MAc ran prior. That is why I believe the real blame for the defense should be laid at Mac's feet. Guys like Marmie and Greene et al are not to be held without responsibility and should suffer the same fate Mac will but...

Hill is overmatched. Effort will only get you so far especially at CB.

I was cautiously optimistic when Sullivan was promoted. I thought the Cards could open things up more but the "promises" of TC and preseason have turned out to be hollow...same with the one gap aggressive defense.

I agree with you Cubby.

One little thing I did notice yesterday......a quick pan of Mac on the sidelines just before a play was run....with the defense on the field.....he was yelling some numbers out onto the field, as if HE were the one making the defensive call.

A couple more changes I would make now: McCown starts getting major playing time.
I wouldn't stop there.

Wherever a veteran messes up (and there's a promising youngster waiting in the wings), I'd sit the vet (at least for a series or two) and play the youngster.

We have nothing to lose, and we can accomplish 2 things: (1) give our players valuable game experience - in situations where the game is still winnable and (2) find out whether or not our young players can play, what they they need to work on and whether they're worth keeping.

I'd like to see Damien Anderson and Scooby Doo get some snaps. I'd also like to see Preston Parsons start one of the 6 remaining games.

Time to put Wells in. Time to give Roundtree some more snaps.

If and when Hayes is ready, fool around more with the 3-4. (Wendell, Bell and King on the DL with DJ, Pace, Ray and Fisher alternating outside depending on situations with Hayes and Ronnie Mac inside).

Adrian to corner with Barrett. (If we're ever going to do it, now's the time when we can afford to experiment). Lucas and Dex deep.

I'd also open up the offensive and defensive playbook, be super-aggressive, throw caution to the wind and TAKE CHANCES. (If something risky doesn't work, what are they going to do, send Mac to Viet Nam?)

Incidently, what's Shipp's injury status?

I agree. Renaldo Hill is killing this team almost single handedly.

The scores are going to get worse, probably much worse. The M.O. is out on this team. Why run at all? St. Louis could get into the 50's on us.
I feel bad for Mac, but he's got to go, as does Sullivan at OC and probably the rest of them as well.

section 11...martz will start running every play if he gets a big lead...he is very good friends with Marmie and Mac and will not want to pile on.....and we obviously are much better at stopping the run... besides...why risk injury to holt or bulger...

also..hill does suck..but my guy barrett is playing almost as bad as of late..I was a big barrett fan - but he might be setting a record for a cornerback lining up off of the line of scrimmage.

Tango, Darksiders are fans. Just as much as Koolaiders. Darksiders just don't take all that crap that comes rolling out of this front office as scripture. Also, we would rather see proof instead of hype.

Anyway, fwiw, good post on your observations. As a darksider (who wants this team to succedd badly), I would say that you just had an epiphany (sp).

I can't imagine Green coaching for the Bidwells. He got into a peeing contest with the owner ( the Oil Tycoon) in Minnesota and lost. He is a bit of a whacko. Has major off the field baggage also. I'd rather go the Nick Saban route. Time for new blood.
