WR Jacoby Ford showed better route running and hands...we could use a world-class speedster like him in our offense. And I think we could get him in Round 3 or 4.

I love Jacoby Ford and think he might go in the 2nd round. DeSean Jackson showed teams that a little guy can make a big difference in the NFL. Teams might be willing to gamble on him early because he can be such a difference maker. He really opened some eyes during Senior Bowl week.

1. DT Terrance Cody, Alabama
2. CB Donovan Warren, Michigan
3. LB AJ Edds, Iowa
4. LB Thaddeus Gibson, Ohio State
5. OG Chris Scott, Tennessee
6. CB Trevard Lindley, Kentucky
7. QB Tim Hiller, Western Michigan

Despite the ugly start, Cody put on a strong performance at the Senior Bowl and was a dominant run stuffer. Planet theory + John Lott could make him a stud.

The Cardinals go into the Michigan well and pick another gem. Donovan Warren could be lost in the shuffle with the strong performances by the senior corners and wasn't as dominant was one liked at Michigan. He has the skillset of a #1 corner, but still has to work out the kinks and become more polished.

AJ Edds is the ideal WILB replacement for Dansby. Sideline-to-sideline speed and arguably the best linebacker in coverage in the draft.

Thaddeus Gibson is talented, but still a year or two away from being a primetime guy. I like Gibson better than Gholston as a LB, but he doesn't have the latter's upside.

Chris Scott is a big guy will probably end up at guard, but has the versatility to play tackle if need be.

Trevard Lindley's stock is at an all-time low. He's soft, bullied when trying to press coverage, and hasn't been able to make many plays like he was known for the last two years. It doesn't help his cause that he's not a freak athlete. With that said, he's still solid in off-man coverage. Worth a shot.

Tim Hiller had a down year in comparison to his stellar junior year, but he's an accurate guy with a solid arm. Not a downfield guy in the least, but I do think that he can be BSP 2.0.

Why wouldn't Weatherspoon have done the same?

He may have, WildBB. However, inside linebackers seems to fall into the late first and early second because teams are snatching up the best pass rushers and cornerbacks. Thus, I think there's a decent chance Weatherspoon will be available at #26.

5) Anthony McCoy - TE - USC
McCoy provides Whis another TE who is a capable blocker. He showed good leverage blocking and was able to make a solid push at the line. He didn't look that great running patterns which will allow him to be available in the 5th round.

If he's there that late, sure. He won't contribute too soon though.

I like the Robinson pick as well. Between Cody, D. Williams, Gresham, Spikes, Graham, Hughes, Weatherspoon and him we should get a potential starter right away in areas of need.

And I consider CB a weaker link than OLB or ILB at this point.

Just saw a mock that had Sam Bradford falling to the Cards in the 1st round. Considering his injury, and state of recovery , this may not be a drop, but a reach.

Mitch - I love seeing this:

2b. Vladimir Ducasse, T, UMass

A lot of mockers stick to FBS schools, ignoring the gems that are out there in FCS and D-II football.
I assume you have seen him play in person.

He played almost the entire Senior Bowl and was one of the most talked about players there. He's a mammoth of a man with loads of talent that still needs refining.

What kind of player is he? Is he a mauler that plays with a mean streak and attitude?

I'll admit, I'm not much of an offensive type guy..defense is my number 1 love.

Like i said in another thread , we need to temper our enthusiasm about the players performance in the senior bowl. None of the top junior or senior prospects participated. The earliest you're likely to see the top guy at the senior bowl drafted is in the 20's, and likely later than that.

this excerpt from a respected draft "expert":

NFL scouts and general managers were disappointed in the overall talent on this year's Senior Bowl roster. Just one player, Penn State's Jared Odrick, leaves the week as a certain first-round choice.

He's 100% mauler IMO. Run blocking is easily his strength. He seems to have very good feet for his size but lacks technique and experience. A native of Haiti, I think he came over here during High School and was on the football field almost immediately. He speak 3-4 languages and has an above average motor and mean steak. I like the kid, though I'm not certain we need to spend this high of a pick on a tackle. If we got him In the third i would be ecstatic and if would got him in the second I wouldn't be overly disappointed, but I expect him to be gone in the early to middle of the second rd. I assume he could play guard as well, but he with the way Grimm likes to have his guards pull, I'm not positive he's small/quick enough to be effective in our scheme.

Here's some stuff on him:

The Cards don't pick till #26 overall so it makes sense that we might land one of the top players from the Senior bowl.

you're right. I was pointing out people saying so and so is definitely going to be gone by the time we pick and basing it on their senior bowl week. The senior bowl is more the 3rd-5th round guys trying to move up. Other than Phillip Rivers, you're not going to see a 2nd round guy bust into the top 15. People may point to DRC,but that was more his 4.28 40 more than anything. His senior bowl helped him but if he ran 4.4, he wouldn't have been a top 20 pick.

That may have been the case 4-5 years ago when only 3 to 4 guys from the senior bowl were selected in the first round each year, but since 2006 almost 40% of the players selected in the 1st round went to the senior bowl.
