Wizards
Would the Wizards be interessted in something like Kwame Brown for Eisley and the #1?
Philadelphia
Would Philly trade Dalembert and their #1 for our #1? We would get a big man and could still use a good pick on the BPA like Chris Paul.
Chicago
Howard Eisley and our pick for Tyson Chandler? Maybe Eddy Curry is possible.

Atlanta - nothing
Seattle - nothing
Toronto - nothing
Clippers - nothing
Warriors - nothing
Boston - Paul Pierce
Orlando - Tracy McGrady
Charlotte - capspace
Denver - Nene
Portland - Nothing
New York - Nothing
Miami - Nothing
Cleveland - Diop
Milwaukee - Nothing
Utah - Nothing
New Orleans - Jamaal Magoire, but there are no rumors he might be available
Houston - Nothing
New Jersey - Nothing
Memphis - Gasol, no real rumors but he was mentioned in some trade stuff
Dallas - Nothing
Detroit - Nothing
San Antonio - Nothing
Lakers - Nothing
Minnesota - Nothing
Sacramento - Mike Bibby, they were mentioned in some rumors to trade up for Melo I think, they aren't shy to make changes maybe they would give up Bibby to trade in the top5 since they still have Jackson.
Indiana - Al Harrington would be an interessting 6th man but since Indiana will have a real bad pick there is no way he would be worth giving up Eisley and our top pick.

I don't think there's a chance in hell Washington would go for that trade. I don't believe they would trade Brown unless they were able to get back a quality veteran were several young players that have already shown something. I certainly can't believe they would take Howard Eiseley's nasty contract and lose their salary cap flexibility to get another pick in this draft.

Your Philadelphia trade is more interesting. I guess I really just depends on whether they really like someone at the top of the draft. I think that Dalembert is a valued player in Philadelphia. It's interesting though.

I think the Phoenix Suns would make that Chicago trade in a heartbeat. I'm sure Chicago would not do it unless it was the #1, so they could be sure to get the player of their choice. It wouldn't surprise me if Chicago tries to trade out of their draft pick if they can't get Okafor. It seems like they would be sick of young potential. A healthy Chandler would solve a lot of the Phoenix Suns defensive problems. It's too bad he isn't usually healthy. :)

Chicago fans told me they would most certainly be interessted in that trade. Particularly for Tyson Chandler.

Chicago would have

C-Curry 6'11
PF-Emeka 6'8

Phoenix would have

C-Chandler 7'1
PF- Amare 6'10

The Suns would actually save some money and improve their capspace because Chandler makes less money than Eisley and they wouldn't have to pay their top pick.
The Bulls would probably be interessted in taking Jacobsen in that deal.

Rights to Vujanic ~15-16M$capspace. Kobe 13-14M$, Vujanic 1M$, Cavs pick 1M$.

Chandler/White/Voshkul
Amare/Lampe
Marion/Zarko
Kobe/Cavs pick
Johnson/Barbosa/Vujanic

slin would you really be ready to give up a top 5 pick for a player who is only averaging 11.2 and plays the same position as your other star player? a player who has not shown any heart in his 3 year in the nba and is largely thought of as a bust?

that's great, but the Chicago Bulls fans do not make their trades. They wouldn't be the ones stuck footing Howard Eiseley's $13 million bill for the next two seasons. BTW, does that trade work under the CBA?

Those trades are SOOOO far out of whack for the Suns. That #1 alone is worth Curry/Chandler. They haven't proven anything in 3 years and have no heart....

Yes Chicago and Phoenix should both be under the cap.

You gotta be kidding.

Chandler is at least 7'1 and very athletic, very good shotblocker, rebounder and defender and only 21 years old.

Talking about Kwame?

He is a true CENTER. He is 7' and very strong, very strong post defender and is already coming into his own.

Maybe you didn't notice but he had 30 points and 19 rebounds against Sacramento the other night and 27/11 the next night.

__________

Which is why I doubt the Wizards would trade him for anybody except maybe Okafor, and only then w/out having to take on Eisley's contract. This draft seems to have one guy who's ready to play, unless Deng comes out, and I don't see the Wizards giving up Kwame for yet another project who'll likely take time to adjust. They just got over that w/ Kwame--why do it again?

I wouldn't mind seeing the Suns go after Etan Thomas, though. I think he's just what they need, and he'd be a better fit right now than Kwame--good interior defender and rebounder, good athlete, runs the floor, decent offensive player, great character guy, still young. I think he's averaging about 9/7, which the Suns could use from a backup post player. He's a rfa, so the Wiz could match, but there's been some talk that a team might throw a MLE-type contract at him this year and the Wiz would let him walk. The Suns are far enough under the cap to front-load a contract. He'd be a perfect backup to Amare and is big enough to play the 5 against alot of teams, and paying $5 or $6 million a year for your primary 4/5 backup wouldn't be excessive, IMO. Who knows, if Lampe pans out as a high-post 5, an Amare/Lampe/Etan rotation might not be a bad one in a few years.

Just a thought.

If not Kwame I like Chandler as much or more if he didn't miss games this season.
Maybe Chandler isn't a better player than Okafor but I think that he is a better center.
The Bulls could probably use Okafor better because they have Curry at center already.

I mean at worst Tyson Chandler will be taller Marcus Camby I think and that would be a really good fit for the Suns at center.

He has no problem running the floor and is at least the 7'1 nba.com lists him if not 7'2.

Ilgauskas is 7'3 260lbs.

I think you must be missing the point of some of those trades. Slin proposed trading The Phoenix Suns top draft pick in Howard Eiseley for either Curry or Chandler. Getting rid of Howard Eiseley's contract is a positive thing for the Phoenix Suns. It's really what makes the trade too good to be true.

The problem is that like Marcus Camby, Chandler has not proven he can stay healthy. He'll also be a restricted free agent next summer.

In games Chandler played 30 minutes or more

10 pts 16reb 2blk in 33 minutes against the LA Lakers.
2 pts 13reb 1blk in 32 minutes against the Nets.
14 pts 12reb 4stl in 35 minutes against the Kings.
22 pts 9reb 2blk in 45 minutes against the Magic.
14 pts 17reb 1blk in 35 minutes against the Rockets.
13 pts 14reb 2blk in 33 minutes against the Bucks.
13 pts 22reb 4blk in 32 minutes against the Hawks. <- That was his first game of this season.

As a starter 13ppg 11rpg 1.3apg 1.4bpg in 28mpg.

I remember before he missed games because of his injury he was the best center in the fantasy league and my team was good.

If there weren't questionmarks about Chandler he would not be on the block. At worst we get a better contract than Eisley, a big body who is still better than anything we have right now, taller than anyone we have and we save the capspace we would have to spend on our top pick.

Of course judging by Curry's comments and relationship with Skiles. The Bulls might be willing to part with either Chandler or Curry.
Chandler - height, defense
Curry - size, offense

yea and in his next game he scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. or how about him starting off season with 8, 16, 6, 5, 5, 7, 2, 8, 8, 2, 15, 8, 17, 10, 2, 5, 10, 3, 18, 17, 18, 4, 5, 6, 3, 0, 10 6, and 9 for the first 2 months of the season. last year he did better toward the end of the season and then came back with this type of play to start the season. so far this year he has had 13 game where he scored 5 points or less including 1 game where he scored no points in 14 minute.

slin i understand that you like all the skills that he has but guy has had but he has had all the chances in the world. he got to work with one of the greatest players in the history of the nba (someone who showed him what work ethic he needs to be succussful) and a very good coach and still couldnt put it together (because they were to hard on him). so washington gets him a players coachs and he still only averaging 11.2 a game.

There are two issues being discussed. One is whether there is a young veteran that would be worth giving up the lottery pick for. Second, is there some kind of deal that used to unload Eisley's contract.

Right now we just don't know how valuable the lottery pick is. Would I give up the one of the top two slots for Chandler? It would depend a lot on whether I was convinced he would be healthy in the future. There might be someone available that would surprise us, but the Suns would end up using up cap space in the process.

As for unloading Eisley through a trade, it would take more than just the lottery pick IMHO. My guess is that the Suns would have to take on a contract that is even bigger in the process. For example, a deal with the Rockets for Kevin Cato who makes $8 million next year and $8.6 million the following year. They would reduce their salaries by $3.5 million. The Suns might be forced to take on cap ballast like Nachbar who gets $1.5 million next season.

This doesn't help the Suns get Kobe, but Cato might be viable replacement for White if he gets moved. He would certainly be more useful than Eisley.

Would Houston do the deal? It seems unlikely since it does not get their salary structure down enough. It's too bad Eisley has stunk the place up in Phoenix because the Rockets might actually be able to use a good backup PG. This deal only happens if the Rockets really, really want someone in the early lottery like Livingston as a replacement for Francis.

I disagree, I think Atlanta is the best place to go if the suns got lucky and get the first pick in the draft.
The suns could trade the rights to Howard to Atlanta along with Eisley and take back Atlantas first pick and a player with a one year contract, and get at least another 2nd round pick from Atlanta.

If the suns would trade just the rights to Howard, I think Atlanta would be willing to give this year and next years 1st round picks to the suns.

They really want Howard and I do not think the suns want anyone from the draft in a high pick. (salary plus no one to contribute right away)

I personally do not think the suns want Okafor.

:p

I can't see Atlanta doing the deal unless the Suns threw in another pick. Eisley's contract is that bad.

Based on what?

Assuming that White goes to the Bobcats and the Suns do not re-sign McDyess and Harvey, this would mean the Suns would have only three inside players going into next season: Stoudemire, Voskuhl, and Lampe. That is totally unreasonable (playing Carbakapa is simply a form of small ball).

My preference would be to move Eisley, but chances are the Suns WILL do a deal with the Bobcats to take White to clear the cap space.

Harvey has been "OK", but he only comes back if there is absolutely no one else interested.

Jerry Colanagelo sounded like he would be interested in re-signing Dice, but only if he came really cheap. Unless Dice is willing to come back for the veteran minimum, then he is likely to be gone as well.

Okafor would be a substantial upgrade over Harvey and McDyess. So what makes you think the Suns would not be interested?

Hmm, I'd check that memory. Chandler was indeed good at the start of the season, but he wasn't the best fantasy center at the start of the season. There were a couple of guys named Duncan and O'Neal putting up better numbers.

And just for the record, when was your team "good"? :p They were never more than one game over .500, and that was in the very early going.

I think Chandler's back issues are very scary.

Atlanta would be willing to pay a lot for Howard because he is from there and they need to sell tickets bad......

They would take Eisley if they can give back a salary I think. Also they will try to trade ?? (the 2 guard playing point) Memory problem with his name.
Eisley would give them a back up point which they could use.

The selling of tickets that Howard would produce would be huge and Eisleys contract would not be a problem at that point.

I do not think the suns will draft a player that is going to be competition at the same position as Amare, their future super star.
Okafor is going to be a very good player and is graduating in 3 years from college, so we know he has the smarts to improve, it just will not be with the suns. There is a chance they will take him if they get the 2nd pick and Howard goes first and they can not trade the pick. Although I do not think they will have a hard time trading that pick.

White may go to Charlotte, but that is an assumption on your part just as my assumption is they do not want Okafor.
It is just an opinion on my part because we have Amare and Okafor is only about 6'8".

If the suns get the first pick and do not trade it I think they will draft Howard and keep him.

The Hawks want Howard really bad. Unless they got a better deal, and we got the first pick, I'm pretty convinced that if they wound up with the fourth pick, they'd trade Henderson and their 4th pick for Eisley and Howard.

I would want more that just Henderson and them takign Eisley. I would also ask for cash to be given to the Bobcats along with White. I would like to keep White but his contact is in the same boat as Bo was last year. Nice to have but too much to keep.

Why would we take Henderson in return? Almost 9M$ over the next season.

The whole point is getting more capspace THIS season.

If we only want to plan for 2005. We should wait until the deadline to trade Eisley and keep our top pick and see what he can do.

I think the suns can get more than that, at least another 2nd round pick.
The suns may not require more just to get rid of Eisleys contract.

The player they take in return would have to have a one year contract or be somone the suns think can be a player to keep for a long time.

Another thought is that if the suns get the 2nd pick they could still do the deal because some teams will want Okafor before Howard if they get the first pick.

The trade with Atlanta could really help the suns for the future. They could draft the BPA on Atlantas pick and get rid of a players salary and a player that would not get any minutes next year, and have less salary to pay a lower pick.

:)

Sunsfan, the point Slin was trying to make is that we do not need to take back a player in return.

Since atlanta is so far under the cap they could just absorb Eisley's contract.

If we are going to give up our first pick, it better be for straight cap room (at the very least) not someone with a year left on their deal.

I think that come draft time, the Suns will take the best player on the board regardless of position. This has always been their stance on drafting.
