I'm very excited about Bogdan, he seems like the real deal. I suspect if this FIBA tourny had been held before the draft he would have gone much much higher. Hope they can wrangle him out of Europe for the 2015/16 season.

Bogdan Bogdanovic is way better than Zoran will ever be. As already mentioned before, I guess the NBA Attention for Zoran is all about Gorans great season. Zoran didn't really improve his Game the Last 2 or 3 years. He always plays like that. He can be a streaky but successful Spot up shooter but I do not think, that he could ever earn more than 5 minutes ppg. Especially in the Western Conference.

Give that time to Archie and save the Money. Zoran will be better off staying in Europe.

I strongly agree! The gimmick of signing brothers (and it is a gimmick--I don't think the Suns would be entertaining signing Zoran if Goran were not on the team) is offset by tying up a role on the roster to please his brother and the potential of displeasing Goran in the future by moving Zoran. Or wanting to.

'Better to do neither. Especially since we already have that situation. If we sign Zoran, four spots on the roster will be under that cloud. The Valley of the Sun has moved up in market size in the NBA. The Suns should move up with it.

If Zoran is going to be signed by an NBA team, is it not better for him to do it on his own? There are way too many weaknesses involved in doubling that kind of show.

Yeah, but then it would deprive us of some awesome Double Dragon photoshops.

I tend to view the situation much as FutureSuperstar, the Suns accruing assets to make a trade. It is just not a mindless matter of signing another guard. Depth provides flexibility. I can see the Suns looking at trade options with players such as Bledsoe, Ennis, Green, Goodwin or even the rights to Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Also I have been pleased with the Suns trade for Marcus Morris. He provides depth at both forward positions. I view him as an asset. Hopefully the same would be true if the Suns acquire Zoran Dragic.

IMO, with Zoran it depends on how well he defends... I've read statements that he better than Goran but thats a pretty broad target. I trust he'll run the floor with his bro, but I'd feel a lot better about him if I knew he could deliver some first rate D for modest stretches of time. He did pick up his shooting in the tournament, which is a positive sign but we really need more good perimeter defense.

Bogdan didn't look particularly good defending against France... he was trying and scrambling but he didn't really contribute much. He's only 22 so he could improve a fair bit at that end of the floor. He ran the floor about as well as PJ does but he passes better. He played well down the stretch of the game as has been reported but he was on the floor when France closed the gap, too.

He isn't particularly athletic or long (like Klay Thomoson) so I doubt his defense in the NBA would be anything special.

True, but PJ Tucker is neither particularly athletic or long but his hound dog demeanor (and, admittedly, his freakish strength) really helps him on the defensive end.

A long time ago I was pretty convinced he had no place in the NBA. Now that he's going to play for us though, I'm pretty sure he's a borderline star in the making.

Steve

I thought he was a potential guy but didn't like the draft pick at the time because the Suns were talking about filling roster spots with guys who could help them win a title. I was not happy with that draft at all. I hated the Robin Lopez pick because I didn't think he would ever improve his rebounding from college or ever be the Suns long term starting center.

Dragic? I honestly didn't see anything special. I remember thinking (especially) early on that when he was passive he looked like a deer in the headlights. When aggressive he was a different player. The year we traded him I felt like he regressed from the previous year and I was OK with him not being a Sun.

The Dragic we have now is NOT the same player that was traded. In fact, probably leaving here is the best thing that could have happened to him. Did I think Dragic could become as good as he has? Nope. I didn't either but my thoughts on that draft were probably tainted by my dislike of the Sideshow Bob pick.

I thought Zoran needed to make a decision this past weekend with Unicaja Málaga of the Spanish League regarding his contract situation. Haven't heard a thing. Now I'm wondering if I misread the time frame.

That's cause Tucker is one of the strongest players at his position in the entire NBA.

I don't think Zoran Dragic is even close to Tucker in terms of strength.

A couple of tweets from Marc Stein:

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine · 6h

Word out of Spain is that Zoran Dragic -- Goran's younger brother -- likely lands two-year NBA deal provided final hurdles cleared this week

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine · 6h

ESPN sources say Phoenix Suns have emerged as clear frontrunner to sign Zoran Dragic away from Unicaja Malaga in Spanish ACB

If he signs with the Suns I'm thinking the Suns have some other moves in mind.

What moves are you thinking?

It's hard to know but I believe McDonough is one smart GM. I know the Suns are not accumulating all these guards as Christmas presents. :)

If I were to guess players like Ennis, Green or Goodwin could be part of a trade. Also there is still the matter of Bledsoe. The Suns need a more physical presence inside.

Yes. It is a pretty full roster. We have cap space and could take back a bad contract if the right young piece comes along. Right now, we could let Bledsoe go for picks alone and not really be impacted severely.

Something is cooking.

According to @bennythemouth Alex Len is now demanding that the Suns give his dad a 2-year deal. Evidently he has been MVP of his senior league for 17 straight years.

Don't think re-signing Bledsoe kills the Suns' interest in Zoran Dragic because I don't think they want to sign him for basketball reasons.

@paxer89 Can't see how someone who saw him play with Unicaja last couple of years would think he's an NBA player.

This is why I'm not a big fan of this signing.

This reminds me of when the Knicks sign JR Smith's brother to please JR. And then when JR started to suck for them, they cut his brother immediately cause they didn't care for what he wants anymore.

It seems a number of teams were interested in signing Zoran and they didn't have Goran on their roster.

I'm not a wild about this signing but its different than the JR Smith mess. Zoran had interest from multiple teams, while the idea of Smith's brother on a roster was a joke. Also I think Goran is much more of a professional than JR. Hopefully Goran has more ability to differentiate his success from this brothers than crazy JR Smith.

Reports from Spain are that this is a done deal. Zoran isn't playing in a game tonight because he's officially left his team.
