That's just crazy talk.
how? They're about the same size. Both have great vision. Both have the handling of a supercar. I don't think it's much of a stretch. But I'm also in no way saying he's as good as him now. But, even though it was preseason, him leading the whole league in rushing is something to keep in mind considering this is his first season even on an NFL roster. It's all going to depend on how he develops, but I think the talent is there

He doesn't have the top end speed that McCoy has, but I do think that he possesses pretty much every thing else. He also reminds me a little of CJ Spiller with the shiftiness and ability to break arm tackles at the same time.

I haven't really seen him hit top speed, so I will take your word there. Either way, I could see him becoming very good if coached correctly

Dude, I love WiPo... been saying he should be in the line-up since camp! BUT, he is nowhere near McCoy good. Just in terms of speed and quickness alone, McCoy could outrun and outquick WiPo if he were running backwards!

Powell is our best bet at the RB position. But, that's where it all ends... at least for now. He's got a chasm the size of the Grand Canyon worth of proof left before you can mention him the same breath as McCoy!

Brandon... you do know that quoting your own posts even to prove a point is akin to talking about yourself in the 3rd person.

52brandon didn't say that, 52brandon said 'but I'm also in no way saying he's as good as him now'.....:D

sorry bro, couldn't resist having a laugh at your expense...:)

lol, no issue man. If I had a court stenographer, I would have had em read it back instead. Posting on a budget here ;)

also, a weird stat. McCoy's best game running (YPC) was vs the Cardinals. And his stats were exactly the same as Powell's yesterday

yea

Faulk took one to many hits- that is crazy - but i guess he is paid to talk about something- put him in as coach- Start powell and watch how long FAULK lasts!

I was watching the pregame show on the NFL Channel yesterday & Faulk was pretty jazzed about Powell. He flat out said that he's the best RB on our roster, & that includes both Wells & Williams. He said that Powell will make it difficult for Wells & Williams to see the field next year. I liked what I saw from the guy during the preseason, but I haven't sat & watched yesterday's game yet. Thoughts???

Powell reminds me a bit of Willie Parker before the injuries. Similar size and elusiveness. Both undrafted. Both play for Whiz. Both named Will P.

Different guys though Parker was "fast Willie" always fast but small and not durable so he got overlooked. Powell isn't overly fast but he seems quick enough to the hole and makes people miss.

I'm not expecting to see that week after week but who knows. I remember seeing Priest Holmes get 100 yards the first time and thinking it was a fluke.

Well we are definitely due for one of these UDFA miracle RB's like Holmes or Foster, but I am not gonna hold my breath.

He may be but we are still one if not the worst running teams in the NFL. That adds to the problems of our already marginal QBs.

WiPo looked *really* good I thought, considering what our OL gives him.

I am definitely rooting for the kid. Great story!!

Roger that -

But the Old School in me makes it hard for me to give him a pass for the blown assignment that got Kolb injured.

That busted assignment is part of the kid's total body of work (i.e. the bad that accompanies the good). If he's to become our bell-cow (now or into the future), he can't be doing that stuff.

Other than that, I love his fortitude, balance and low pad-level.

I think we need to make more players work at the grocery stores... something about that...

I can say I was one of the biggest doubters on the board, and I'm ready to eat some crow.

At the least, he's proven that he deserves more PT than LSH. I've said this in the past, but LSH should not be on the roster next year. You have to be an absolute dynamo returner and special teamer (which LSH is NOT) to be able hold down a backup spot.

I still like me some Hyphen. Granted, we were running a 7 man front when we started having rushing success against Buff and POW had more success with it. But on a good offense , Hyphen can bring some good things, think we won a game or two because of him.

People talk like he will have hard luck looking for another job, I think once a club with a decent offense see's him in action, not running him up the middle because Beanie and whoever is out, he can be utilized as an awesome weapon. And he will be cheap if we slip. If he is asked to do what he is good at, he is a monster in the open field.

Why is Powell not getting more carries? How long the punishment supposed to last for getting Kolb injured? Is that worth it to not try him in a struggling running game.

He was averaging 4.7 yards vs. 2.7 by Hyphen and showed a lot of pormise behind the same pathetic run blocking. Zero carries on MNF. Only one carry against GB.

Again, LSH is NOT an all down back.

Powell needs to be in there. I like LSH on this team, but not as a primary back...regardless of the yards he is able to squirm his way to. Powell gives a threat that will not cover a ton of ground for 4 yards the hard way.

4.5/carry this season. Led the entire league in preseason. I do not understand at all why he isn't getting more carries
