Well...Rue is on the squad

This is from another thread posted by Dave Pasch...sounds like he made it!

Patience grasshopper.

The thing that scares me is that the Rams have ZERO FBs on their roster and will sign at least one today. They do have 5 TEs though and may be planning an H-back type of thing.

Is Rue really that good? I can't see us keeping both Rue and Diamond on the practice squad. One of them makes it, one of them does not.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but all I know is that, when Anderson broke his first long run off right tackle, Rue was the lead blocker (who I believe) flattened Urlacher.

When Travis Prentice broke of his long run, it was Rue leading the way.

Then, against Minnesota, when Anderson broke off the TD run and the 35 yard run shortly later, it was Rue who threw the lead block to spring him both times.

I wasn't watching game tape all that carefully, but another conceivable "coincidence" could have been that every one of those long running plays was over Kendrick Rogers at RT.

FB is a collision position. Most teams only have one good one. I think the presence of two obliterators in Hodgins and Rue is an insurance policy guaranteeing that our running game will stay in good shape over the next 16 games.

Regarding Practice Squad Guys - I'd go with the following except that, in place of Grace, I'd add Nelson.

Gilbert-LB
Moore-DE
Rue-FB/TE
Grace-OL
Diamond-TE

The choices from our training camp roster seem pretty straight forward. the only X factor I can think of is someone they may have targeted after the draft but failed to sign... and now that team tries to sneak him on their PS.

Buffalo just announced their practice squad. Any minute now we should get something.
