If you were a player to make it to the practice squad, besides the money, why would you want it?I would be pissed if I made it through the whole league and couldn't make a roster.

Ben Patrick could work for us well but who else could make a difference? I'm not being coy, I just want someone out there to enlighten me on the subject. The talk of Ali making the practice squad seems great, but then again I can't remember another player I was hoping for to make the show. It seems to me when a player makes the PS he is more or less forgotten.

I can't think of a prominent Cardinal to come off the practice squad but other teams have done it. James Harrison (Steelers) spent part of two seasons on the practice squad before eventually becoming a starter and Pro Bowler.

Antonio Smith.

Was on the practice squad, and played in NFL Europa.

Opposed to being out of the NFL? Seems fairly simple to me....

Ryan Grant and Earnest Graham were both long-time practice squad players. The reason they wanted longer contracts so badly was because of how old they are now.

I am sitting a cubicle hating my job for about 1/3 of what a PS member makes.

The PS member is playing football, weight training, excersizing and having fun.

Which guy are you more jealous of? Would you rather just be cut and come work with me?

(working here makes you slowly forget how to spell.)

I'm not jealous. LOL

It seems a small few make the PS, then when they do, a small few make the show. My feeling is we could never see the likes of Harrington or Ali H. playing for us in an actual game.

If the PS is so cool, can you name the players that are on it without looking it up?

I understand about the money situation.

I don't think anyone has been placed on this years PS yet.

From last year, off the top of my head(honestly):

Holloway
Baylark
Bain

That's it for now

From what I can remember, Travarous Bain, Steve Baylark, Jemalle Cornelius, Demario Winter, Elliot Vallejo, and not sure (Alex Shor) or Holloway?

Tim Castille was on it all year.

The Practice squad is basically warm bodies that the coaching staff think might have future one day but their biggest job is to get the actual team ready for that weeks opponent. They simulate the opponent during the week.

Just to add to this, they also have aspirations of playing in the nfl. This is at worst keeping their dream alive. They are still living a dream life, they get to practice everyday and hang with millionaires every night. Doesn't sound bad to me.

In my mind, guys who make the practice squad have made the team and are real NFL players. They aren't much different than players on the 53 man roster who are inactived on Sundays.

Salary is a huge difference. The rookie minimum is $285K and it escalates to $435K by their third year. Practice squad guys would also have a hard time proving to their buddies that they're part of the team b/c practice squad players aren't even listed the team website anywhere.:mulli:

Yes, salary is significant. The active roster IS better. But, they get a check on Monday signed by Bill Bidwill, just like the rest of the guys. Then, go into the film room and the practice fields just like every other player.

The practice squad is listed on the team site, once there is one. It's on the same page as the roster, all the way at the bottom. :slap:
